To thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and put in place the deployments of the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs and the National Conference on Work Relating to Local Foreign Affairs, Jilin Provincial Foreign Affairs Office organized a Provincial Foreign Affairs Office Directors Meeting on July 31. At the meeting, they summarized work, analyzed the situation, and studied and deployed key tasks to promote better coordinated development of Jilin's foreign affairs work. Attendees included members of Jilin Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, directors of municipal (prefectural) foreign affairs offices, heads of foreign affairs departments from border counties (cities) and some development zones (demonstration zones), and liaisons of the coordination mechanism for foreign affairs from provincial departments.

 

The meeting noted that since 2023, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, foreign affairs departments at all levels in the province have conscientiously implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the Symposium on Promoting the Comprehensive Revitalization of Northeast China in the New Era, actively served the country's overall diplomacy, effectively promoted the province's open development, and strengthened foreign-related security management and control.

 

It was also pointed out at this meeting that the current international situation is increasingly uncertain and unstable, and the geopolitical influence is causing profound and complex changes in the landscape of neighboring regions. Foreign affairs departments must clearly recognize the opportunities and challenges brought by changes in the external environment, accurately grasp the new situation and new tasks of foreign work, pinpoint the functional positioning of local foreign affairs, and proactively integrate into the province's development trend and the overall situation of opening up.

 

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the need to adhere to the spirits of the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs and the National Conference on Work Relating to Local Foreign Affairs, raise awareness, deepen comprehension, and align actions to ensure that the Party's centralized and unified leadership in foreign affairs is effectively implemented. The primary responsibility should be serving the overall situation and development, while ensuring support for key central tasks, focusing on comprehensive revitalization, and managing foreign-related security. Efforts should be made to contribute foreign affairs strength to the breakthrough in Jilin's comprehensive revitalization. In addition, to ensure high-quality development of foreign affairs, it is important to be adept at strategic planning, prioritize overall coordination, and strive to enhance the level of "planning, coordinating, managing, and handling of foreign affairs".
