The exchanges between Changchun and Warrnambool are mainly in culture, education, animal husbandry and tourism.

Educational exchange: Led by the two municipal governments, promoted by universities exchange, and advanced by tripartite agreement signing, the development strategy of education, industry, and integration of industry, university and academy between sister cities is promoted. In 2017, the two municipal governments cooperated with Deakin University of Australia to jointly establish the “Changchun International Sister City Deakin Scholarship” to provide financial support for international students from Changchun who go to study in Deakin University Warrnambool Campus.

Inter-school exchange: With the support of Changchun Foreign Affairs Office, Changchun No.1 Experimental Primary School established a sister school relationship with Woodford Primary School in Warrnambool, and the two sides carried out projects such as teacher exchanges and student exchanges.

Cultural exchange: In the Changchun Sister City Sculpture Park, the sculpture "Southern Ocean Goddess" by a famous painter and sculptor David Higgins from Warrnambool was collected. The work has a strong artistic expression and distinctive regional style, and the site has become a must-visit spot for visitors to Changchun.

Economic and trade promotion: From April to December 2015, Li Xichun, an animal husbandry expert from Changchun, launched a special economy and trade promotion in Warrnambool under the name of “China Changchun Trade Commissioner in Warrnambool, Australia”. During his stay in Warrnambool, he investigated 24 ranches and 12 agricultural and livestock enterprises, visited eight government departments, industry management institutions and scientific research institutions, attended nine conferences and seminars, visited two colleges and one primary school, regularly held briefings on Chinese culture and Changchun folklore in the conference hall of Warrnambool Municipal Government, and promoted Changchun to foreign government officials and business people.
