Timeline
On November 23, 1992, Changchun and Zilina established a sister city relationship.
In June 1993, Yu Fujin, deputy mayor of Changchun, led a delegation to visit Zilina and formulated a plan for the expansion of exchanges between the two cities.
In May 1995, the two cities exchanged economy investigation delegations and reached an agreement on cooperation.
In July 1995, Zhang Mingyuan, director of the Standing Committee of Changchun Municipal People's Congress, led a delegation to visit Zilina, implemented the project of exporting 1000-horsepower small four-wheel tractors from Changchun to Zilina, and signed the 1997 exchange plan between the two cities. Substantial progress was made in exchanges between the two cities.
In August 1998, mayor of Zilina led a delegation to participate in the second Changchun Film Festival.
In September 2000, deputy mayor of Zilina led a delegation to visit Changchun.
In July 2004, Meng Dexi, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Changchun Municipal People's Congress, led a delegation to visit Zilina and signed a plan for the city exchange from 2005 to 2006.
In January 2006, deputy mayor of Zilina led a delegation to participate in the 12th World Winter City Mayors Conference in Changchun.
In August 2007, Changchun Mayor Cui Jie led a delegation to visit Zilina and signed an exchange plan between the two cities.
In 2010, Zilina sent sculptors to Changchun to participate in the Changchun International Sculpture Exhibition, which opened in September, and presented works for Changchun Friendship Sculpture Park.
In July 2012, Changchun organized a citizen delegation to visit Zilina, and carried out a variety of citizen exchanges activities with Zilina.
In April 2015, Wang Yi, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of Changchun Municipal CPC Committee, led a Changchun Delegation of Sister Cities Internet Information to visit Zilina, and established an Internet connection with Zilina.
In September 2016, Zilina sent a sports delegation to participate in the International Friendship Half Marathon Invitational Tournament and achieved excellent results.
