Key Cooperation Areas and Programs
The exchanges between Changchun and Masterton are mainly in education, culture, animal husbandry and tourism.
Education exchange: The two cities have carried out regular teacher exchange programs. Every year, Masterton sends two teachers to Changchun for a six-week teacher exchange, and arranges teachers to visit primary and secondary schools, holds open classes, and offers professional lectures with a goal to promote the internationalization of education in Changchun. Similarly, Changchun also sends two teachers each year to conduct a six-week exchange with Mastertown to teach Chinese culture and Chinese language in Masterton.
Inter-school exchange: Changchun No. 30 Middle School and St Matthew's Collegiate School in Masterton have established a sister school relation, and carried out projects such as teacher exchanges, student exchanges, and netizen exchanges.
Cultural exchange: Masterton has established “Changchun Park” and “Changchun Pavilion” in the urban center. The construction plan, design drawings and glazed tiles needed for the construction of Changchun Pavilion were all donated by Changchun. “Eel Net”, an artwork by Samuel Loudon, a sculptor from Masterton, was collected by Changchun World Sculpture Park and became a witness to the friendship between the two cities.
