Masterton is located in the Wairarapa of the North Island of New Zealand, between the capital Wellington and Palmerston North, 90 kilometers from Wellington, with a population of approximately 25,000 (2017). The city has always been a regional center for pastoralists, and the “Golden Scissors” Shearing Contest held in March each year is widely known.

Masterton is a city with agriculture and animal husbandry as its main industry and its animal husbandry is especially well developed. It has many large sheep stations, beef cattle stations and a large number of milk factories. It is a production base for grain and animal husbandry in New Zealand.

The city is beautiful and has pleasant climate in all seasons. Castle Point in the east is a famous tourist resort, where surfacing sports are available.
