Seven Foreign Experts Win “Changbai Mountain Friendship Awards”
Changchun, October 14 (Jilin Daily)—The National Day Reception for Foreign Experts hosted by the People’s Governments of Jilin Province and Changchun City opened Friday afternoon on September 27, 2013. Seven experts won the “Changbai Mountain Friendship Awards” and 48 won the “Outstanding Foreign Expert Awards”.
As the first and foremost strategic resource, talents are working as a core power for regional development. Jilin Province has attached a great importance to the role of talents in the development of science, technology and economy, with effort put into implementing unswervingly the “intellectual valley” strategy, which in turn has created a flexible, harmonious atmosphere for the recruitment and development of talents. Since the strategy of revitalizing Northeast China was implemented, Jilin Province has made remarkable achievements which cannot be possible without the people’s unremitting efforts and the hard work of foreign experts. More than 4,300 foreign experts are invited to work in such fields as engineering, medical care and biomedicine in Jilin Province every year. As a kind of urgently needed intellectual resource, they have helped cultivate a wealth of innovative and entrepreneurial talents in different fields and attract more of their counterparts to Jilin, which has made the province better recognized at home and abroad.
“Since the first time I came five years ago, I have obtained extraordinary hospitality. In Jilin University, I can share with other research team members some academic thoughts and findings and then put all of them into practice. Our work is noticeable especially in the collaboration with FAW in engine and electric power systems. We are planning to transform more scientific findings and thus offer the people more and better hi-tech products,” said a professor from the UK.
