In 2024, Changchun, the old industrial base in Northeast China, is charging toward innovation and striving for higher quality. Efforts have been made to build a modern industrial system with Changchun characteristics, known as the "transformation of three traditional robust industries, advancement of four strategic emerging industries, and deployment of seven new industries", foster new quality productive forces adapted to local conditions, and accelerate high-quality development powered by technological innovation. A splendid picture of thriving industries, surging innovation, and boundless vitality is unfolding across this vibrant land.

"New" is the theme for Changchun's industrial push toward high-quality development in 2024.

The optimization of industrial structure breathes new life into manufacturing, transforming it from "traditional production" to "intelligent manufacturing". By promoting the high-quality development of its national-level advanced manufacturing cluster, Changchun is boosting the overall technological innovation capacity across its industrial chains.

As the leading enterprise in the national-level advanced manufacturing cluster, China FAW has achieved breakthroughs in 870 key core technologies, filed 14,086 invention patents, and participated in drafting or revising 132 international, national, and industry standards. It has also implemented nine projects of scientific and technological achievement transformation.

In 2024, Changchun was selected as one of the first pilot cities in China for applications of ICV "vehicle-road-cloud integration". Currently, the first phase of the "vehicle-road-cloud" project has been completed and operational, including a 23-kilometer test verification pilot area in the Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone and an 18-kilometer cultural tourism demonstration pilot area at Jingyuetan. They provide standardized test scenarios for ICV development, significantly accelerating the transformation and upgrading of Changchun's traditional automobile industry toward new energy and intelligent connected vehicles.

Changchun's driving force for development lies in its robust industrial foundation.

By rapidly building a modern industrial system, it is enhancing technological innovation across key industrial chains, competing on new tracks, creating new growth engines, and envisioning a brighter future.

Each new track, embodying Changchun's unique characteristics, has unlocked greater development opportunities for the old industrial base in Northeast China.

New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles: Racing Ahead

Audi FAW NEV Co., Ltd. has officially commenced mass production of the Audi Q6L e-tron series in Changchun, injecting fresh vitality into the city's NEV industry.

Major projects such as the FAW-FinDreams New Energy Power Battery Production Base, the FAW-CRRC Joint Venture Electric Drive System, and the Phase II Fulscience Project have been completed and put into operation, marking the preliminary establishment of Changchun's layout for NEVs, ICVs, and three electric systems.

Many enterprises in the city's automobile industry chain are actively embracing new quality productive forces, driving the NEV industry chain forward through technological innovation.

Optoelectronic Information Industry: Competing at the Cutting Edge

With a constant stream of new technologies and products, Changchun is achieving numerous "firsts" and "innovations". Chang Guang Satellite's "Jilin-1" satellite constellation now has 117 satellites in orbit, further cementing its position as the world's largest commercial remote sensing satellite constellation. Cedar Electronics has pioneered the development of the small-pitch "three-in-one integrated LED" product, achieving the world's highest market share. Changchun UP Optotech has developed ultra-precision milling and grinding equipment for aspherical surfaces and multi-degree-of-freedom rapid polishing equipment, breaking through the bottleneck in manufacturing ultra-large optical components. Changchun Changguang Boxiang UAV Co., Ltd. has globally pioneered the "Dual-All-Wing VTOL UAV", driving industry upgrades...

Focusing on five key areas—chip, laser, satellite, vehicle, and network—Changchun is vigorously advancing the high-end development of integrated circuits, the scaled development of laser and new display and lighting technologies, the integrated development of the industrial Internet and software information services, the industrialization of satellite applications, and the intelligent development of automotive electronics. Driven by the vision of "optoelectronics", the city is accelerating the building of a 100-billion-yuan-scale optoelectronic information industry cluster.

Biomedicine and Life Health Industries: Exploring the Frontier Domains

In Changchun, the biomedicine and life health industries are demonstrating remarkable vitality. GenSci has achieved diversified production line development through continuous innovation. BCHT Biotechnology's first star product, Varicella Vaccine (Live), has achieved nearly 100 million batch-release doses since its launch and is exported to more than 10 countries and regions. Alphamab Oncology has obtained approval for its denosumab injection and recombinant human thyrotropin injection, filling the gaps in the domestic market. Leading enterprises are strengthening the foundation of Changchun's biomedicine and life health industries, fostering the growth of new business models, technologies, and platforms.

In addition, Changchun is working to establish a 100-billion-yuan-scale high-end equipment manufacturing cluster, a 10-billion-yuan-scale aerospace and application cluster, and other strategic emerging industrial clusters, which will provide robust support for the diversified development of the city's industrial economy, accelerate the formation of new quality productive forces, and enhance new growth momentum.

Embracing these new blue oceans, Changchun's industrial landscape is surging with momentum.

Data shows that from January to October, the city's NEV production increased by 40.4%, outpacing the national average by 7.4 percentage points. From January to November, the rail transit equipment, biomedicine and life health, and optoelectronic information industries grew by 12.5%, 7.1%, and 5.6%, respectively.

With traditional industries being revitalized, emerging industries on the rise, and future industries under cultivation, Changchun is fully committed to competing in the race for new quality productive forces.

Driving industries forward embodies the resilient spirit of Changchun's industrial growth, while embracing innovation sets the stage for this city's bold march into the future!
