At the 7th Session of the 15th People’s Congress of Changchun City, Wang Zilian was elected in a by-election way Mayor of Changchun City on August 10, 2021. 

On July 2, the Standing Committee of the 15th People’s Congress of Changchun City held its 39th Session and decided to appoint Wang Zilian Deputy Mayor of Changchun City and Acting Mayor of Changchun City.
