CHANGCHUN, October 22 (http://www.xwh.cn/)—“2015 Sino-Korean Publishing Trade Fair” was held in Changchun City from October 21 to October 22, 2015. The trade fair was co-sponsored by Publishing & Media Group Co., Ltd. of Northeast Asia, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism(MCST) of Republic of Korea, Jilin Publishing Group Co., Ltd.(JPG), Publishing Culture Industry Revitalization(PCI) of ROK, and Small and Medium-publishers Association(SMPA) of ROK.

Officials attending the conference were as follows: Xu Yunpeng, director of Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Jilin Province(APPRFTJP); Yao Yuhe, deputy director of APPRFTJP; Yu Hongsheng, director of the Publicity Office of APPRFTJP; Xu Nuanliu, director of Book Publishing Administration Section and Tian Lihui, Digital Publications Administration Section of JPG; Cheng Yuhua, general manager and Sun Yafei as well as Zhang Siji, vice general managers of JPG; Zhou Lan, vice general manager of JPG, the director of PCI, and the president of SMPA, etc.

Established in 2003, Jilin Publishing Group is a large-scale state-owned publishing and media group. According to a most authoritative unwinding survey of the publishing industry, the amount of product varieties of JPG in the publishing market ranked the second among its counterparts across the country in 2014. The copyrights trade of the JPG has been increasing year by year. JPG had been awarded “Key Enterprise of Chinese Culture Exports of the Year” in four consecutive years since 2007.

Small and Medium-sized publishers Association(SMPA) of ROK was founded in August 2013. Approved by ROK Government, it has become a legal organization under MCST. SMPA joined together more than 200 small and medium-sized publishing houses, including over 160 publishers of humanities, over 40 publishers of children’s books, and over 40 publishers of digital publications, and thus it is professional and competitive in the publishing circle.

As one of the key members for promoting books of China, Jilin Publishing Group has always been attaching great importance to the "going out" work. By actively taking the regional advantages of Northeast China, JPG actively develops the cultural "going out" with ROK. In order to expand the book publishing cooperation of going out, JPG invited representatives from SMPA to Jilin Province for investigation and communication in July 2014. Both sides studied the feasibility for diverse cooperation of copyright trade, joint publishing, channel development, digital publication, etc. During 2014 Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) period, JPG and SMPA jointly organized the "going out" introduction event, which further promoted the strategic partnership between the two sides and laid a solid foundation for the current trade fair.

This trade fair was attended by 27 publishers from ROK, nearly 20 publishers under JPG, and other publishers in Jilin Province, including Jilin University Press, Northeast Normal University Press, Changchun Publishing House, Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Yanbian People's Publishing House, Yanbian Education Press, Yanbian University Press, etc. The publishers exchanged ideas and negotiated about cooperation. Over 1,000 varieties of books from both China and ROK were exhibited at the fair.

During the fair, the two sides held a copyright trade fair, a Sino-Korean writer symposium, a Sino-Korean publishing seminar, and an illustration seminar for digital publishing enterprises. Through these activities, publishing people from the two sides developed better understanding, deeper cooperation and closer friendship. Taking the fair as a platform, JPG has achieved its targets of promoting traditional Chinese culture and facilitating communication and cooperation among the culture circle of northeast Asia. The fair has also brought about a breakthrough in the “going out” strategy of JPG, and has expanded the channel for the “going out” of cultural industries of Jilin Province.
