In November 1981, Changchun and Novi Sad established a sister city relationship.
Novi Sad gave strong support to the Changchun Sculpture Exhibition.
In February 1999, a delegation of Changchun went to Novi Sad to participate in the celebration of the city's 250th anniversary.
In October 2003, Wu Dayong, deputy director of Changchun Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, led a delegation to visit Novi Sad.
In May 2004, Zhang Xiaohua, deputy secretary general of Changchun Municipal Government, led a delegation to visit Novi Sad and participated in the Agricultural Expo held in the city.
In January 2006, mayor of Novi Sad led a delegation to participate in the 12th Winter City Mayors Conference (2006) held in Changchun.
In June 2009, Changchun Mayor Zhu Yejing led a delegation to visit Novi Sad and participated in the local Agricultural Expo.
In August 2009, Novi Sad Municipal Council Speaker Ivanovic led a delegation to visit Changchun, and conducted exchanges in various fields with Changchun Municipal People's Congress and the government.
In October 2009, Song Lihua, president of CCPIT Changchun Council, led a delegation to participate in the economic and trade fair held in Novi Sad. Two long-distance runners from Changchun participated in the International Marathon held in Novi Sad and achieved excellent results.
In October 2010, long-distance runners from Changchun participated in the International Marathon held in Novi Sad and won the men's and women's championships.
In September 2011, Novi Sad Municipal Council Speaker led a delegation to visit Changchun and held economic and trade talks with Changchun Municipal Government. Two players from the delegation participated in the Half Marathon held in Changchun.
