Production of Audi FAW NEV's Pure Electric Vehicles Officially Starts in Changchun
On December 17, Audi FAW NEV Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Audi FAW NEV), a joint project between Audi and its long-term partner China FAW Group, officially began mass production of Audi pure electric vehicles in Changchun.
The first model to enter production is the Audi Q6L e-tron series, with the China-exclusive Audi A6 e-tron model set to follow. As the first PPE model introduced to the Chinese market, the Audi Q6L e-tron features a longer wheelbase compared to its international counterpart and incorporates numerous design highlights and innovative elements tailored for the Chinese market.
Audi FAW NEV is Audi's first production base in China dedicated to manufacturing pure electric vehicles based on the PPE platform. It is expected to create approximately 3,000 new jobs and achieve an annual production capacity of over 150,000 vehicles.
The production base integrates the complete automotive production value chain, equipped with stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly workshops. High-voltage batteries for PPE models customized for the Chinese market are also manufactured in the base's battery workshop.
Since its groundbreaking in 2022, Audi FAW NEV has adopted digital technologies to design and build the base. Using digital twin technology, experts have created a fully digital and automated production system characterized by high efficiency and flexibility, while ensuring the alignment between real-time updates of digital models and on-site construction progress.
Audi has also introduced a comprehensive IT solution to the Chinese market for the first time. By virtue of cloud systems, Audi FAW NEV achieves efficient storage and sharing of data across the entire production base.
As stated by Helmut Stettner, Audi FAW NEV's CEO: "High-tech methods have not only facilitated close collaboration between the Chinese and German teams but also improved work efficiency, accelerated construction progress, and ensured smooth daily operations. This new production base achieves the perfect integration of highly skilled talent and cutting-edge technology."
In the pursuit of a smart and clean future, Audi FAW NEV is fully committed to green energy. The base is equipped with photovoltaic panels and employs waste recycling and a closed-loop wastewater treatment system to strive for near-zero carbon emissions. Furthermore, the surrounding area has been landscaped with various native plants, along with the installation of artificial bird nests, insect hotels, and beehives.
