A meeting was recently held in Changchun, Jilin Province, to coordinate key tasks. The meeting emphasized the need for a stronger sense of responsibility and urgency in economic work, as well as more pragmatic, efficient, precise, and effective measures to ensure that the city achieves its goals in the first half of the year as scheduled.

 

In the first quarter of this year, the added value of Changchun's secondary industry reached RMB 54.578 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%. The city aims to stabilize its industrial base, fully support FAW Group in boosting production and sales, tap into the potential of local industrial capacity, and accelerate the cultivation and growth of strategic emerging industries.

 

The biomedicine and life & health industries have been key strategic emerging areas for Changchun in recent years, with the goal of reaching a scale of RMB 100 billion. Since construction began in September last year, the Yongchun Biomedical City Incubation and Innovation Center project has progressed rapidly. Its main structure is nearly complete, and it is expected to be finished and operational by November this year. Upon completion, it will attract a large number of biomedical enterprises.

 

Seizing the golden period for construction, Changchun has accelerated the pace of project development. According to reports, as of now, 1,256 projects, each with an investment exceeding RMB 50 million, have resumed or commenced construction, with industrial projects accounting for 58.1%, 4.1 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

 

Changchun is making every effort to tap into consumption potential, revitalize traditional consumption, and foster the growth of emerging consumption. It is fully unleashing its consumption potential through various exhibitions and events. In this summer vacation, more than 200 cultural and tourism activities will be held in the city, including the Summer Art Festival and the "Cool Art Summer" cultural tourism tour. In the near future, the city will also host several major exhibitions, including the 2025 Changchun International Optoelectronic Expo, the 22nd Changchun International Auto Expo, the 2025 Changchun Air Show, and the 20th Changchun Film Festival.

 

Zhang Enhui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, stated that Changchun would leverage reform and opening-up to tackle development challenges. Particular emphasis will be placed on carrying out the high-quality "15th Five-Year" Plan. Centering on the development of the Changchun modern metropolitan area, key industries, and urban renewal, the city will formulate scientific and pragmatic goals and measures to guide high-quality development and drive steady and sound economic growth across the city.
