The foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of Carbon Neutrality Industrial Park and the signing ceremony for the hydrogen energy project invested by the State Power Investment Corporation Limited in the China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone were held on April 26, 2021. 

The carbon neutrality industrial park is a concrete action taken to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on “peaking carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality”, and the industrial layout of “one pillar and six pairs” made by the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee. It is also an important measure adopted by the China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone to base itself on the new development stage, merge into the new development pattern and speed up the implementation of the “Three Gorges Project on Land”. The project covers an area of 670,000 square meters on which more than RMB10 billion will be invested mainly for comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy, hydrogen producer manufacturing, hydrogen battery research and development, carbon trading and other supporting facilities. Upon completion, the project will become an industrial cluster integrating research and development, demonstrative application, manufacturing of and innovation in key carbon neutrality technologies and top-end equipment. 

For the next step, the demonstration zone will collaborate with top-notch enterprises at home and abroad to speed up hydrogen making capacity, popularize demonstrative application, build up a highland, and promote the high-quality development of hydrogen energy industry. In the meantime, vigorous efforts will be put into developing an industrial cluster for hydrogen fuel cell stacks, key core components and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to contribute to the construction of Changchun International Automobile City. In accordance with the requirement of “getting connected with Changchun for shared development” put forward by the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, the carbon neutrality industrial park will be created as a big project and a big cause to make the demonstration zone strong, competitive and prosperous with a hydrogen energy cluster at 100-billion level by means of interacting with such places as Baicheng and Yanbian for counterpart development and win-win cooperation, and actively promoting international cooperation on cutting-edge hydrogen energy technology and exploring the international market in Northeast Asia.
