Sales Volume Amounts to RMB810mn, Number of Received Customers to 4.6247mn Times

The sales of 11 department stores, 10 supermarkets and farm product markets, and 8 large and medium-sized catering enterprises in Changchun City amounted to RMB810 million during the Spring Festival holiday, up 53.69% year on year. The number of received customers reached 4.6247 million times, a year-on-year increase of 63.52%. The supplies were abundant and price was stable. The number of offline consumers increased significantly compared with previous years. The sales of department stores, commercial complexes and cinemas increased. 

To ensure sufficient supply and stable price of commodities for the Spring Festival market, Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce organized all commercial enterprises involved in the city to join the campaign of “vegetable basket” and “rice bag” so that all necessities could be allocated, supplied as needed in an non-stop way during the Spring Festival holiday. “On January 15, the daily monitoring system of daily necessities covering 29 kinds of commodities of three wholesale markets and 12 key supermarket enterprises in the city was implemented as an effort to supervise price fluctuations, and ensure market supplies during the Spring Festival,” said an official from Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce. 

According to the data of 20 supermarkets and farm product markets, the price of pork, beef and other commodities was stable but with a slight drop from that surveyed the week before the festival; the price of fresh eggs was basically the same; and that of vegetables was stable from February 11 to February 13, but dropped a little bit from February 14 to 16. 

Sales promotions promoted consumptions. Right before the Spring Festival, Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce issued RMB20 million consumption coupons through Alipay and UnionPay platforms. A total of 238,000 coupons were allocated in just one minute. During the golden week of the Spring Festival, the cancellation rate of coupons exceeded 50%, which in turn increased the sales by more than RMB68 million. In addition, more than 30 promotional activities were organized in different forms, The amount of discounts exceeded RMB100 million. 

This year, more residents chose to stay put and joined shopping fairs and promotional activities of delicious foods, movies and others to spend the Spring Festival holiday. The total sales of 11 department stores surveyed by Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce reached RMB520 million, up 135.35% year on year; and the number of received customers amounted to 2.3583 million times, a year-on-year increase of 192.96%.
