Display of "National Treasure-level" Exhibits at the 15th Changchun Folk Art Fair

On August 11, the 15th China Changchun Folk Art Fair (hereinafter referred to as Changchun Folk Art Fair), which will last for 10 days, officially kicked off at Kuanhouli Characteristic Commercial Street in Shimao Town in Lianhuashan Ecotourism Resort. The fair features 12 themed pavilions (zones) showcasing ceramic and purple clay, calligraphy and paintings, jewelry and gemstones, as well as unique folk handicrafts, enlivening the cultural and leisure life of the public and improving the consumption quality and efficiency of Changchun's cultural tourism industry.

After years of cultivation and development, Changchun Folk Art Fair has become an important platform for promoting excellent Chinese traditional culture, discovering folk art treasures, nurturing the folk art market, and elevating the city's cultural image. The 15th Changchun Folk Art Fair is held in Lianhuashan Ecotourism Resort, aiming to fully leverage the spillover effects of the fair to provide a platform for showcasing and promoting cultural tourism project consumption. Furthermore, to further exploit the advantages of integrating culture, commerce, and tourism, visitors who purchase tickets for the "Theme Pavilion of China Association of Collectors" during the fair can also receive vouchers for tourist attractions in Lianhuashan Ecotourism Resort, enjoying special discounts. Thus, visitors can explore the Changchun Folk Art Fair in the morning and then visit the Tianding Mountain Tourist Resort Town, Asayama Star Camp, and BATURU Paradise in the afternoon.

"Grape Purple Zun (wine goblet) from Jun Kiln of Song Dynasty", "Rose Purple Flower Pot from Official Jun Kiln of Song Dynasty", "Black Glaze Ewer from Ding Kiln of Song Dynasty"… A notable feature of the 15th Changchun Folk Art Fair is the collaboration with the China Association of Collectors, resulting in the establishment of the Theme Pavilion of China Association of Collectors - the National Treasure Collection Pavilion. Here, hundreds of classic collections are for display purposes only and not for sale.

The exhibited porcelain in this event includes Ge Kiln and Official Jun Kiln of the Song Dynasty, as well as Official Kiln of the Southern Song Dynasty, all of which are rare treasures in the realm of porcelain. Additionally, there are bamboo carvings from the Ming Dynasty, meticulously capturing the lifelike expressions of figures.

Apart from the "National Treasure-level" collections, the 15th Changchun Folk Art Fair also showcases a variety of folk handicrafts. Gourds of various sizes, well-crafted hand weavings, and distinctively shaped purple clay teapots are on display.

At the hand-made gourd pyrography exhibition stand in the Jilin Arts and Crafts Theme Pavilion, gourds of different sizes showcase various paintings. The big ones are around 50 centimeters high, while the small ones are only about 2 centimeters high. Exhibitor Wang Lianbo explained that the challenge in gourd pyrography lies in exquisite design and conception and steady techniques, requiring careful control of heat and intensity as a single wrong stroke can make the entire piece void. It is particularly difficult to create small gourd pyrography artworks. Wang Lianbo picked up a bracelet made up of six 2-centimeter-high gourds and introduced them to the reporter. Each gourd has distinct pyrography paintings, featuring exquisite details in both landscape and figure carvings, showcasing excellent craftsmanship.

Many of the artworks at the 15th Changchun Folk Art Fair are created by a new generation of folk artists, who infuse new creativity into traditional craftsmanship, creating a diverse range of new products. In the Purple Clay Art Pavilion, craftsman Wei Baoli introduced his newly created purple clay teapots for the fair. "For instance, this 'Fish Transforming into Dragon' purple clay teapot was created upon traditional craftsmanship and I carved the hidden dragon onto the body of the teapot, imbuing it with a more vivid appearance," claimed Wei Baoli. These handicrafts embody the adherence to tradition and innovation by the new generation of folk artists toward traditional craftsmanship.
