The exhibition (Changchun) of the torch for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and the opening ceremony of the Public Ice and Snow Season of Jilin Province (Changchun City) were held at the Mt. Miaoxiang Ski Resort in Changchun City on December 26, 2021. Zhang Zhijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, declared the start of the ceremony. Government officials including Wang Zhihou, Director General of the Standing Committee of Changchun Municipal People’s Congress, Wang Zilian, Mayor of Changchun City, and Qi Yuanyuan, Chairman of Changchun Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the event. 

In line with the theme “An Ice and Snow Appointment for a Better Future” and the slogan “Health, Joy and Vitality”, a series of activities in four parts, namely, launch ceremony, torch exhibition, ice and snow competition and culture dissemination of Winter Olympics will be organized. 

At the venue, 2,000 teenagers performed a sign language dance to the music “Together for a Shared Future”. On a ski slope, more than 100 people holding national flags, Olympic flags and flags of Winter Olympics constituted a square array, creating a warm atmosphere to welcome the Beijing Winter Olympics. To disseminate the culture of Winter Olympics and attract more people to participate and serve the event, the organizing committee of the city invited several world and national champions including Zhou Yang and Wang Hao to the venue, and played the videos of the city’s 26 Olympic or world champions on a big screen on site. 

Zhou Yang and Wang Hao as well as the representatives of participating leaders and guests showcased in a manner of a relay the torch of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games to further ignite the passion and convey the dream of Olympics while spreading the concepts of peace, unity, friendship and health. With the opening of the public ice and snow season, such entertainment games and competitions as snowboarding challenge, snowball fight and snowman making will be organized as scheduled. Tens of hundreds of athletes will compete on site which is expected to fully demonstrate the atmosphere of “Winter Olympics in Beijing, Experience in Jilin and Enjoyment in Changchun” and the unique attractiveness of ice and snow resources of Changchun City. 

In addition, other activities including Winter Sunshine Sport Conference and Ice and Snow Winter Camp will be organized to provide free training for teenagers on cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, speed skating, ice hockey, snowball fight, dragon boat on ice. Insiders say efforts will also put into exploring the ice and snow resources in the whole city to make 110 ice rinks and 50 ski slopes to ensure the conditions will be ready to increase the number of teenagers to join such ice and snow campaign to 100,000 times.
