Director-General of the Changchun Foreign Affairs Office Led Team to Visit Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences
On the morning of May 18th, Director Xue Chunzhi and Deputy Director Ou Shuo of the Changchun Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office led a team of officials to visit the Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences located at Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone. They were accompanied throughout the entire visit by Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone Bai Song , Director of Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences and President of the Canadian Jilin Chamber of Commerce Ju Li , General Manager of Zhongke Yifu (Suzhou) Pharmaceutical Research and Development Co., Ltd. Dr. Liu Zhengrui, and professor of Jilin Agricultural University Dr. Sun Yang.
According to Director Xue Chunzhi, the purpose of this research and observation visit is to explore the fulfillment of “Silicon Valley model” in China, to understand and apprehend the industrial planning features of Jingyue National High-tech Industrial Development Zone so as to offer assistance to enhance the development of the Jingyue high-tech incubators platform and further expansion of channels for attracting investments. Talents and capitals are crucial elements for the R&D incubators of high-tech industries. To develop the biomedical industry, it is imperative for the Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences to fully seize opportunities and attain breakthroughs; relevant government departments should also provide active supporting policy and services to assist enterprises in upgrading their technology and integrate resources. The Changchun Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office is privileged with unique advantages in foreign resources, and the Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone possesses promising potential as a national independent innovation demonstration zone. Looking ahead into the future, the Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office and Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone should pursue precisely targeted cooperation in accordance with the industrial development needs of the Zone, invest foreign resources appropriately to serve regional development.
President Ju Li extended a warm welcome to Director Xue Chunzhi and team, and expressed gratitude to the Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office for its ardent support, which has greatly benefitted the start-up since Ju returned to China. With cluster advantages of relevant industries, at present the Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences mainly focuses on fields such as biomedicine, while research and development of new technologies in the realms of regeneration, inoculation, reproduction, anti-aging and rehabilitation are also making steady progress. In the days ahead, base on the concept of “precision medicine” as development guidance, the Norman Bethune Center for Medical Sciences will advance biomedical technologies and incubate quality projects through innovation platforms. Ju Li expressed the hope to work with the global resources platform facilitated by the Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office, and increase joint promotion of relevant roadshow projects with the Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office, so as to acquire cutting-edge technology and attract high-caliber high-tech talents from around the world.
Director/Bureau Chief Bai Song updated Director Xue Chunzhi on the latest development, introducing that Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone has just obtained approval as a National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone this year, and is in the process of assiduously devising relevant supporting action plans. Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone will further benchmark itself against Changchun New Area and China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, and explore new operating modes such as the planning and utilization of industrial land, and delegating power of evaluation and approval. Further steps will also be taken to complete the tasks of “six-cities linkage” overall layout planning, delivery of noteworthy results in new and high technology research and development achievements conversion, and optimization of innovation resources, while at the same time fostering further cooperation and collaboration with the Chanagchun Municipal Foreign (Overseas) Affairs Office to realize mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
