CCFAO Sends Delegation to Investment Promotion Conference for SCO Central Asian Countries

Entrusted by the leadership of Changchun Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO), the Division of European and African Affairs of CCFAO attended the investment promotion conference “Investment Potential of SCO Central Asian Countries: Opportunities and Prospects of Cooperation Projects” jointly sponsored by China Overseas Development Association and the Secretariat of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on June 30, 2021. The delegation discussed with the officials and enterprise representatives of SCO Central Asian countries on the possibility of promoting cooperation in various fields with Changchun City. 

Vladimir Norov, Secretary General of SCO, delivered a speech at the conference, saying, “Central Asian countries are important members of SCO, with great investment and cooperation potential in such fields as energy, agriculture, infrastructure construction, tourism and transportation. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of SCO, we hope that this conference can effectively promote the pragmatic cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.” 

At the conference, the officials of the embassies of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in China, representatives of relevant institutions and enterprises made promotional presentations about the main resources, business environments and preferential policies for investment and cooperation in their countries. 

In the one-to-one negotiation round, the delegation had talks with the representatives of the embassies of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in China on issues related to cooperation in agriculture, processing of agricultural products, tourism, hi-tech and the establishment of sister city relations. 

The conference was held in line with online and on-site form. In addition to the main venue in Beijing, sub-venues were opened in Qingdao and Yangzhou. The participants were mainly from large central enterprises. The number of participants on site reached nearly 130 people. The representatives of China Media Group, Xinhua News Agency and major media of SCO countries attended and reported the conference.
