China-Germany Automobile Congress 2020 Market Promotion & Press Conference for Product Strategy of FAW Organized—Share Opportunities of Revitalization and Development, Join Hands for Construction of Changchun International Auto Town

It is the time of the year when October becomes a golden season full of the fragrance of orange Osmanthus. The China-Germany Automobile Congress was opened on October 12, 2020. Wang Kai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, addressed the meeting presided over by Zhang Zhijun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and Mayor of Changchun City.  

The event was held in the critical period when Changchun is implementing in a thorough manner the important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection trip to Jilin Province, and forging ahead to secure a decisive victory in building up a moderately prosperous society. It was opened at the right time and is therefore of great significance.  

On behalf of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Changchun City, Wang Kai extended his welcome to the guests and entrepreneurs invited form home and abroad to this gathering and expressed his thanks to the people from all walks of life for their support for the development of automobile industry of Changchun City, saying, “Hard hit by the epidemic and confronted with severe economic situation, we have been seeking opportunities out of risks, striving for progress amid stability, securing achievements out of difficulties and sparing no effort to speed up the construction of the modern metropolitan area of Changchun City and facilitate the development of four major plates due to which the economy is moving forward on a trend of positive growth.” 

“Changchun is a city famous for automobile. To revitalize national brand is our obligation,” Wang Kai said, “Changchun will actively integrate into the ‘dual circulation’, seize the strategic opportunity of expanding domestic demand and the opportunity of the times of revitalizing Northeast China, actively support FAW and other leading enterprises to plan for the ‘new four modernizations’, accelerate the ‘six regressions’ in production capacity, production scheduling, supporting, settlement, talent and innovation, develop new energy and intelligent Internet connected vehicles, cultivate and strengthen independent brands, and thus strive to make Changchun an internationally top-notch production and R&D base, and a high-quality development demonstration zone for automobile industry. I hope that all entrepreneurs and friends present here will take this gathering as an opportunity to comprehensively deepen cooperation with Changchun and FAW in terms of industrial development, project investment, technological innovation and brand building. The CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Changchun City will strive to provide the best policies, services and environment so that all involved can be assured of investment, entrepreneurship and development, and join us to create a new situation for the revitalization and development of Changchun City.” 

Wang Guoqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of FAW Group, unveiled the product strategy of FAW according to which new Hongqi will fully implement the strategic plan of “excellence”, and based on the existing eight product models under mass production another 20 brand new products will be launched in the next five years so as to achieve the goal of increasing the sale of pure electric vehicles up to 25% of the total. Wang expressed his sincere hope for all supply chain partners to join hands with Changchun City and FAW to facilitate the “six regressions” and thus create a new glory for the development of automobile industry. 

Wang Lu, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor of Changchun City, made a market promotion. Wang Haiying, Deputy Mayor of Changchun City and Secretary of the Party Work Committee of Changchun Auto Industry Development Zone, made a promotional presentation on the construction of Changchun International Automobile Town. Several key projects were also signed at the press conference.  

Among the guests invited to the event also included the representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce, the officials at municipal level including Wang Changjiu, Li Zhongbin and He Quanxiu as well as the representatives of FAW Group, central enterprises and auto parts manufacturers.
