The “Russia-Europe-Asia” International Online Chess Competition was held successfully at the chess.com from July 10 to 12, 2020. The event, sponsored by Krasnoyarsk, Russia, an international friendship city of Changchun, is meant to promote the sports exchanges for children around the world, and strengthen the cooperative and friendly relations among international friendship cities.

With the great support by Changchun Foreign Affairs (CCFAO), Changchun Sports Bureau and Changchun Sports Federation, four contestants from Changchun City and their counterparts from Harbin and Czech joined hands as “Team China and Czech” in a friendly match versus Team Russia. The players on our side made an excellent result. For the team matches held on July 10 and 11, “Team China and Czech” won the competition. Among the four players from Changchun City who joined the championship for individuals held on July 12, one won the champion and one won the third place.

Since Changchun and Krasnoyarsk become friendship cities in 2014, the two sides have expanded cooperation in different fields and jointly organized a number of economic, trade and cultural activities. In addition to this competition held during the epidemic period, Changchun City also joined other activities including sending more than 30 paintings selected by the Children’s Palace of Changchun City to the “Children to Children” International Charity Art Festival held in April this year.

The “Russia-Europe-Asia” International Online Chess Competition” is the first of its kind jointly designed and organized by the two sides during the epidemic period. Insiders say such effort is an innovation in carrying out online sports exchanges between the two cities.
