To promote opening up and tell the good stories about China, Changchun Pavilion, a “special envoy”, was completed in the sister city of Changchun, Masterton, New Zealand, on December 19, 2019. The building materials for Changchun Pavilion, which was designed by the Garden Design Institute of Changchun City, were contributed by the People’s Government of Changchun City. The pavilion, situated in the south of the downtown of Masterton, is hexagonally structured, with red columns and yellow tiles, showing the unique traditional culture of China. The completion of such building, the first of its kind by Changchun in sister cities, has created a “Chinese Style" in New Zealand. Insiders say the effort is a meaningful exploration to tell the good stories of China and expand the influence of the city.

The mayor of Maarten attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and announced the completion of Changchun Pavilion, which became one of the top ten news of the city in 2019.

Changchun will continue such effort to expand the influence of the city abroad and meanwhile have the landmark buildings of sister cities settled in the city to improve the level of internationalization.
