Major Breakthrough! First Hongqi All-Solid-State Battery Prototype Vehicle Rolls Off the Line
Recently, the first prototype vehicle powered by an all-solid-state battery independently developed by China FAW Group's Hongqi brand successfully rolled off the production line. This marks FAW Group's formal entry into the vehicle testing phase for all-solid-state battery technology.

After 470 days of intensive research and development, the project made a series of breakthroughs in key areas, including sulfide electrolyte, the performance of 10Ah battery cell, and the manufacturing process for 60Ah battery cell. The 66Ah all-solid-state battery cell installed in the vehicle passed an extreme thermal abuse test at 200°C, and the ionic conductivity of the sulfide electrolyte exceeded the industry-leading threshold of 10 mS/cm. The successful rollout of the first Hongqi all-solid-state battery prototype vehicle also represents a major breakthrough for FAW Group in core areas including high-voltage module packaging and lightweight system integration, laying a solid technical foundation for future large-scale production.
FAW Group began its R&D of all-solid-state batteries in 2014 and independently developed the industry's first solid-state battery module in VDA standard size in 2019. In recent years, FAW Group has continued to increase investment in this field, with R&D spending increasing at an average annual rate of 8.6% over the past three years.
