The new oilseed processing project of COFCO Oils & Oilseeds, located in the Kuancheng Economic Development Zone, Changchun, with an annual output of 600,000 tons, has been under construction for nearly two months and has completed bidding and procurement for process equipment, services, and civil engineering sections. It is currently proceeding with the construction of temporary facilities, perimeter walls, etc.

The project covers an area of 270,000 square meters with a total investment of RMB 1.6 billion. It mainly includes the construction of production lines for soybean and peanut pressing, refining, packaging, and related logistics and supporting facilities. Specifically, it includes a pretreatment and pressing workshop capable of processing 2,000 tons of soybeans and 1,000 tons of peanuts daily, as well as an oil refining production line capable of processing 800 tons of oil daily. Once operational, the project is expected to generate annual profits and taxes of RMB 30 million, create over 1,000 local jobs, and serve as a comprehensive oil and oilseed processing base for COFCO in Northeast China.

To ensure the smooth commencement of the project, the Kuancheng Economic Development Zone established a dedicated project team that provides "nanny-style" services, proactively addresses needs, and solves problems. "We have organized multiple visits to the project office with various departments to provide on-site guidance on issues such as planning design schemes, temporary water and electricity supply, and labor use raised by the project party, ensuring the project's construction proceeds without concerns," explained the head of the Investment Promotion Department II of the Kuancheng Economic Development Zone. To date, the zone has coordinated with relevant departments and enterprises on issues including site selection, introduction of a dedicated railway line, steam supply from a power plant, and supporting infrastructure to ensure the project meets its phased goals.
