The "Automobile City" Seals Two Agreements in One Day, Driving High-Quality Development Through Government-Enterprise-University-Institute Collaboration
Recently, the Changchun Municipal People's Government and FAW Group, as well as FAW Group and Jilin University, signed strategic cooperation agreements at Nanhu Hotel. The multi-party collaboration aims to propel the high-quality development of Changchun's auto industry and inject strong momentum into industrial transformation and upgrading.
The strategic cooperation agreement between the Changchun Municipal People's Government and FAW Group marks a profound and forward-looking collaboration based on an overarching perspective. Relying on the central-local joint construction model, both parties will focus on key areas such as the introduction of new energy vehicle models, enhancing competitiveness across the entire industry chain, and achieving breakthroughs in key core technologies. They will work together to build a globally competitive auto industrial ecosystem, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, and lay a solid foundation for the high-quality development of Jilin Province's manufacturing industry.
Under the agreement, Changchun is set to enter a new phase of intensive NEV product launches, with the industry scale expected to achieve leapfrog growth. Among them, Hongqi will launch a new generation of NEV products centered around green technology and high-end intelligence and featuring diverse drive forms to meet the needs of niche user groups, thereby consolidating its leadership in premium value among national brands. Meanwhile, FAW-Volkswagen will proactively embrace transformation toward electrification and inject new momentum into the development of joint-venture brands by expediting the upgrading of its technology platform and the transition to NEVs in Changchun.
It is reported that taking this signing as an opportunity, Changchun plans to speed up the transformation and upgrading of its auto industry toward new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. The city will provide services and safeguards to support FAW Group in further expanding its vehicle system layout and NEV offerings in Changchun. Efforts will focus on core business segments such as Hongqi and FAW-Volkswagen to build a collaborative development pattern of diversified technological routes and reinforce Changchun's position as a stronghold of advanced manufacturing.
The strategic cooperation agreement between FAW Group and Jilin University targets the core driving forces for the industry's long-term development, namely scientific innovation and talent cultivation. According to the agreement, the two parties will focus on key core technologies such as intelligent connected NEVs, artificial intelligence, high-performance automotive materials, and vehicle-road-cloud-network-satellite integration. They will enhance comprehensive collaboration in high-end technological R&D, the cultivation of top-notch talent, and the promotion and service of high-quality products, so as to build an innovation ecosystem featuring deep industry-university-institute-user integration.
Changchun has been recognized as a national pilot city for NEV battery swapping modes, one of the first national pilot cities for the comprehensive electrification of public vehicles, and one of China's first pilot cities for ICV "vehicle-road-cloud integration" applications, and has seen its "Changchun Automotive Cluster" advance to the national advanced manufacturing cluster. Through the deployment of new projects, technologies, and business models, the city is creating new competitive advantages for the industry while striving to build itself into a world-class international automobile city and leap toward a trillion-yuan-level auto industrial cluster.
Today, a number of strategic and leading major projects, such as the NEV project of FAW-Audi and the new energy power battery project of FAW-FinDreams, have taken root and are advancing rapidly in Changchun. These two agreements aim to further consolidate industrial strengths, drive upgrades, and provide stronger support for the industrial cluster.
