FAW held a press conference on releasing the Outline of Development Planning and Strategy of Technological Innovation for the “14th Five-Year Plan” on July 15, 2021. FAW has made a long-term plan with ambitious goals for future development to which the automotive community and the people from all walks of life have paid great attentions and expectations.

In the past years, especially during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, FAW conscientiously implemented the decisions and deployments made by the CPC Central Committee due to which performance quality and overall strength were improved to a great extent. Although the sales and benefits of automobile industry declined in the last three years in particular, FAW managed to have secured upward achievements due to its perseverance in following the new situation and new trend of development of the industry.

According to the outline of development planning, FAW will take “for wonderful travel, good life, and a world-class, environment and customer-friendly service company” as its vision, and “building up a national automobile brand, becoming a partner for the pleasure of users and contributing to make the automobile industry of the country bigger and stronger” as its mission, and strive to explore a new road and create a new pattern for the transformation and development of the automobile industry of China in the new era.

Based on its in-depth insight into the development trend of automobile industry, FAW will follow 12 connected series of thoughts: fully implement the decisions and deployments made by the CPC Central Committee and the requirements of the development planning outlines of the national “14th Five-Year Plan” and that of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; follow the law, understand the essence, speed up transformation and development, and speed up the exploration of a new development road; build up national brands; focus on independent innovation; strengthen joint investment and cooperation; speed up the layout of emerging businesses; speed up the expansion of overseas market shares; strengthen digital and intelligent transformation; deepen reform in an all-round way; promote all-round growth for employees; take a central enterprise’s social responsibility; and strengthen Party building in an all-round way.

FAW has also unveiled the goals set for the “14th Five-Year Plan” – “11245”, including the first “1” means FAW will create a new pattern of transformation and development for the automobile industry of China in the new era, and explore a road of a new, green, low (zero)-carbon development, with a revenue of more than RMB1 trillion, a record of selling 6.5 million vehicles and an amount of profits totaling mor than 68 million; the second “1” means selling more than 1 million cars and striving to reach the world’s advanced level; the “2” means selling more than 2 million vehicles of independent brands and striving to reach the world’s relatively advanced level; the “4” means that the proportion of new energy intelligent cars of Hongqi accounts for more than 40%, and striving to reach the world’s advanced level; the “5” refers to the realization of an advanced innovation ability in the world, a first-class ranking for employee development in the industry, a leading role in Party building among central enterprises, an advanced ranking in social responsibility among central enterprises, and a leading ranking in terms of consumers satisfaction in the industry. It is estimated that through the efforts to be made for the 14th Five-Year Plan, FAW will basically complete the main project of a world-class automobile enterprise, and after five years of hard work, the goal of creating a world-class enterprise will be basically fulfilled.

According to FAW’s outline of “14th Five-Year Plan” for innovation in technologies, “brand new, proprietary, first launch on international scale, self-determination and self-reliance and win-win cooperation” will be taken as the goal, users’ eight dimensions of “modeling, safety, health, quality, comfort, driving control, energy saving and experience” will be taken as the standard, products and technologies’ five features including “electrification, intelligent networking, driving experience, safety and health, energy saving, consumption reduction” will be taken as the key, 36 specific technologies will be taken as the focus, and digitalization and intelligence, environmentally friendliness and resource guarantee will be taken as the foundation to create a world-class technological innovation system.

Forging ahead with the “14th Five-Year Plan” in a new journey, FAW, on the basis of the new development stage, will implement the new development concept, create a new development pattern, get fully involved in the great practice of building a modern socialist country, make good starts from one innovation to another, take the lead in the “transformation and upgrading” of the industry, and forge ahead for better quality, faster speed and higher standard to become a world-class automobile enterprise, and thus contribute to make the automobile industry of the country bigger and stronger, and facilitate both the national economic construction and the local socioeconomic development.
