The Oriental Theater of Jilin Province is located in the geographic center of Changchun City, covering 44,400 square meters. With a total floor area of 26,000 square meters, the theater is home to performing arts, meetings, movies and exhibitions, etc.

 

More than 6,000 shows, meetings and exhibitions have been staged here in the theater since it was opened. Over the past 20 years, it has not only received state-level officials including Sihanouk, King of Cambodia, and Sirindhorn, Princess of Thailand, but also served as host venues for many international galas. The theater has invited approximately 200 performing groups from over 40 countries to enrich people’s cultural life.

 

Over the past years, the theater has gone through several times of refurbishment with the help of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, the Peoples Government of Jilin Province and the central government. The largest one was done in 2009 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. It has 1,462 seats enabling guests to enjoy watching performances in a relaxed, comfortable environment. The proscenium is 16 meters wide and 8.5 meters high. The depth of field is 40 meters. Its backstage can be used by 200 people at the same time. There are 56 booms, 18 meters each, and four lighting battens on the two sides of the stage, plus top-notch audio, video, lighting equipment, which have made the theater enter an era of digital performing.
