Located in the central part of Jilin Province, Shuangyang District is situated at the southeastern part of Changchun and within the city's half-hour economic circle, covering an area of 1,677 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 8 towns (sub-districts) and 134 villages, with a total population of 336,000. It is "China's Hometown of Sika Deer", a national ecological demonstration zone, a national demonstration county for leisure agriculture and rural tourism, a national pilot zone for the integration of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries, a typical county for rural entrepreneurship and innovation in China, a national model county for rural labor transfer and employment, and a hometown of Chinese folk culture and art.

In recent years, Shuangyang District has deeply implemented the deployments made by the province and city. Following the development idea of "strengthening leading enterprises, promoting upgrading, supplementing shortcomings, and building brands", it has vigorously promoted the development of five industrial chains including sika deer, green rice, greenhouse fruits and vegetables, characteristic forest fruits, and Chinese medicinal materials. Focusing on strengthening the processing industry chains of deer by-products, rice, and Chinese medicinal materials, it has established 2 provincial-level and 4 municipal-level modern agricultural industry parks, introduced and cultivated 47 leading enterprises at or above the municipal level such as Guoxin, Sheai, Dong'ao, Shilu, and Jinhe, so as to continuously promote the integration of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. In 2023, the total cultivated area for crops in the entire district is 1.61 million mu, including 1.48 million mu of grain crops and 130,000 mu of other economic crops such as melons, vegetables, and forest fruits. The number of sika deer in the district reached 320,000, and the output value of the entire sika deer industry chain exceeded RMB 7 billion. Shuangyang District is becoming a leader in the high-quality development of the national sika deer industry and a base for the supply of high-quality green food in Changchun.
