Winter Agriculture Expo
The 10th Jilin (Changchun) Winter Agriculture Expo, sponsored by Changchun Municipal People’s Government, and organized by the Administrative Committee of Changchun Jingyue Hi-tech Industry Development Zone and Changchun Agri-Expo Park, is scheduled to be held at the Changchun Agri-Expo Park from January 23 to February 11, 2019. The event lasts for 19 days but will be closed on February 4, the last day according to the Chinese lunar calendar.
The theme of the exhibition is “Quality, Brand, Spring Festival, and Auspiciousness”. Five sections including “Facility Agriculture Exhibition, Sightseeing Agriculture Exhibition, Spring Festival Fair, Festive and Cultural Activities, Ice and Snow Entertainment” totaling 29 items of activities will be arranged.
New, Unique Facility Agriculture
The major site of the event is at the outdoor section of Changchun Agri-Expo Park, including a 60,000-square-meter intelligent multi-span greenhouse and 5 modern sightseeing greenhouses totaling 200,000 square meters.
The multi-span Intelligent Greenhouse for hi-tech agricultural facility exhibition in seven sections for soilless cultivation, large-scale soilless cultivation, matrix cultivation technology, tropical fruits, fresh flowers, desert botanicals and plant factory which mainly highlight the advanced crop varieties, cultivation techniques and facilities, and integrate sightseeing agriculture, creative agriculture, demonstration, ornament and science popularization.
The newly-added exhibition area for the new type of protection films suitable for the region of Northeast China covers two non-heating greenhouses, which can realize the production of leafy vegetables without heating in winter greenhouses in North China, thereby becoming role model for energy saving, environmental protection, and high-efficiency agriculture.
Sightseeing Agriculture to Feast Visitors’ Eyes
The event is expected to feast the eyes of all visitors.
The World Agricultural Garden totaling 6000 square meters is characterized by the exhibition of agricultural highlights of five continents, namely, Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania, covering more than 300 typical plants representing the different agricultural customs and civilizations of the five continents. The Pineapple Flower Garden, which is 5,000 squares meters, features the exhibition of more than 10 fine pineapple flower varieties. The Fishery Exhibition Area is said to be highlighted by hundreds of marine animals and plants and small pets, which are more ornamental. The “Garden of Rare Poultries” concentrates on exhibiting more than 40 economic and ornamental species of animals, such as peacocks and parrots.
In line with the Rural Revitalization strategy put forward at the 19th CPC National Congress, and in accordance with the general requirements of industrial prosperity, ecological livability, rural civilization, effective governance and affluent life, the Exhibition Hall of Rural Revitalization will fully display the beautiful vision of Rural Revitalization by combining field planting with landscape modeling. The Creative Exhibition Hall of the New Era uses creative agriculture to demonstrate the rise of Chinese nation through four major sections, namely, Cultural Heritage, Remain True to the Mission, Road of Reform and Guidance of the Era.
New Year Shopping Fair Full of Festive Flavors
The shopping fair is always one of the highlights of Winter Agriculture Expo.
During this exposition, the shopping fair, which is located inside the multi-span intelligent greenhouse, covers a total area of 10,000 square meters for exhibiting and selling thousands of exhibits such as middle and high-grade green, high-quality agricultural products, foodstuffs, crafts, light industrial products and other special necessities and gifts on 153 standard booths to meet the people’s demands of celebrating the Spring Festival. In addition, there is an area totaling 500 square meters for children’s entertainment parents’ rest in the southwest corner. The Food Street is characterized by 15 kinds of local specialties and snacks. The Flower Show on New Year's Eve is said to unveil more than 200 kinds of flowers and some 12,000 green plants. The Green Vegetable Supermarket sells and distributes green vegetables and exquisite vegetable gift boxes produced by the Agri-Expo Park.
During the exposition, the organizing committee will join hands with Changchun Municipal Women’s Federation to organize a craft fair at which “masters of handicrafts” in Changchun City are said to be invited to make handicrafts for exhibition and sale. At the exhibition area for the featured agricultural products of Northeast China, there are various kinds of meat products, frozen goods, dried fruits, etc.
Cultural Activities for Joy and Entertainment
The organizing committee will also stage such activities as Spring Festival Art Show, Science Popularization for Students, Xiangguang Community Gala, Small Journalists to Agriculture Expo, Non-heating Greenhouse Observation and Seminar, Promotion for Vegetables and Flowers of Agri-Expo Park, Lantern Riddles, and Lucky Draw.
At the same time, the outdoor exhibition area will is said to be used for ice and snow recreational activities such as skiing and sledging as well as other recreational facilities including Corn House, Straw Weaving World, and Fairy Tale Park to create an ice and snow wonderland of ice and snow for the visitors and their children.
