Northeast's First: Changchun New Area Selected as a National Demonstration Park
The National Intellectual Property Administration has recently unveiled the latest list of parks selected for the "National Intellectual Property Powerhouse Construction Demonstration Parks" initiative. Among the 15 parks chosen nationwide, Changchun New Area stands out as the first in Northeast China to receive this honor, marking a pivotal advancement from pilot experimentation to setting a benchmark for excellence.

Since its designation as a national-level new area in 2016, Changchun New Area has achieved significant milestones in intellectual property (IP). The total number of valid invention patents has surpassed 15,000, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 14.2%. The area boasts over 93 high-value invention patents per 10,000 residents—5.8 times the national average. Over the past five years, local enterprises have garnered four China Patent Excellence Awards and two Silver Awards for Outstanding Industrial Design. Additionally, five companies in the area have been newly accredited as national IP demonstration enterprises, representing 41.7% of the provincial total. Currently, Changchun New Area hosts 113 IP service agencies, forming a comprehensive, full-chain service system. Its IP operation platform aggregates more than 471 million pieces of global data, with over 8,000 patents available for licensing or transfer. The area has also established three specialized operation centers and developed a "one-stop" IP protection network, creating a complete and integrated service ecosystem.

Changchun New Area has cultivated 705 "specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative" enterprises, including 35 national-level "little giant" firms—accounting for 41.2% of the province's total—all of which hold core invention patents. The area is also home to 31% of the province's "start-up" (chuying) enterprises and 24% of its "gazelle" enterprises. Furthermore, it concentrates over 60% of the province's high-level scientific and technological innovation resources, such as national key laboratories. Through university-local government collaboration, 212 patents have been successfully commercialized, providing robust support for regional innovation-driven development.
