Recently, the Sixth China - South Korea Green Economic Cooperation Forum, jointly hosted by CCPIT and KCCI, was held in Changchun. This forum, themed with "the cooperation between China and South Korea in the green industry", sets up two sub-forums, at which relevant people in the government, industry and education sectors in the two countries delivered a keynote speech around two major topics, such as "China-South Korea cooperation and prospect in energy conservation and environmental protection technologies" and "China - South Korea cooperation and sustainable development in the green industry". CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Wei, KCCI Vice President Lee Dong Keun, and South Korean Embassy in China Environment Minister Meeja Park attended the forum and delivered a speech.

Since Jilin Province and South Korea are complementary in green energy utilization and technology development, the forum's organizer the Jilin branch of CCPIT invited KCCI to organize a delegation of nearly 100 people to attend the forum and held China-South Korea enterprise matchmaking fair. At the fair, Tonghua national pharmaceutical high-tech zone and others in Jilin reached cooperation consensus with companies from South Korea on heavy metal-contaminated soil purification, sewage and sludge treatment, odor treatment technology, etc.

The forum originated from the memo of understanding on promoting green economic cooperation in China and South Korea signed by CCPIT invited KCCI in May 2009 and both parties established a green partnership and high-level dialogue mechanism. Today, the mechanism has become a high-level and high-standard international forum for the trade sector in China and South Korea to carry out discussion and cooperation in new energy, energy conservation and environment protection and other fields and the most important platform for the green industry cooperation and exchange between both countries. The previous five terms were held in Beijing, Seoul, Wuxi and Qingdao. Every forum's content and topics were closely linked to green economy, an emerging integrated field drawing increasingly growing attention from China and South Korea and were aimed to jointly seek new development trends of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and achieve a sustainable development.
