Key Cooperation Areas and Achievements
Economy: As industrial cities, Changchun and Ulsan have many similarities and complementarities in industrial structure, so exchanges and cooperation in economy between the two cities are frequent. Changchun held an economic investment briefing in Ulsan and organized enterprises to participate in the overseas investment briefings organized by Ulsan. Ulsan sent a number of delegations to Changchun to participate in economic and trade exchanges held in Jilin Province and Changchun.
Culture: Federation of Literature and Art of Changchun and Ulsan Art Association held the China-South Korea Calligraphy and Art Exchange Exhibition every two years. It has been successfully held for 22 sessions. Changchun Youth Federation and Ulsan Youth Conference officially formed a friendly exchange relationship in 1996, with remarkable results of youth cultural experience exchanges jointly carried out.
Education: Changchun Municipal Education Bureau and Ulsan Education Department signed a friendly exchange agreement in 2000, launched a comprehensive educational exchange, and promoted the establishment of six international sister schools. Ulsan Education Department of in South Korean donated more than 100 computers and a large number of teaching supplies to South Korean National Primary School and No. 2 High School in Changchun.
Sports: Three delegations from Ulsan participated in the Sister Cities Half Marathon Invitational Tournament held in Changchun. The Sister Cities Badminton and Table Tennis Invitation Tournament jointly sponsored by the two cities is held in two cites in turn and has been successfully held for three times. In the future, the two cities will jointly hold youth football friendship games to promote youth exchanges and development of football games.
Civil servants exchange: Changchun sent five civil servants to Ulsan for a one-year training. After one year of study and living, not only was their work ability greatly improved, but their understanding and their emotional attachment to the sister city was enhanced.
Environment: In 2015, a delegation of the Yitong River Management Committee of Changchun visited Ulsan and conducted an investigation with Ulsan Environment Department in order to learn from the water management experience of Ulsan. In 2016, the Taehwa Building Environmental Delegation of Ulsan visited Changchun and exchanged views with Changchun Urban Construction Committee on the successful experience of Taehwa River in Ulsan. Later, water treatment experts from Ulsan visited Changchun to inspect its water environment and made effective suggestions on the water body management in Changchun.
