The Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Continues to Promote Friendly Exchanges with Chitose of Japan

On June 21, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office convened Changchun Chitose Video Work Meeting, during which the contents and direction of the two cities' friendly exchanges in 2022 and years to come were discussed. During the talk, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, adhering to the development path of "a powerful city in three aspects, three centers of regional innovation, consumption and cultural creative industry" and "city linkage in six areas", put forward the communication direction of two cities in modern agriculture, cultural tourism & creative fields. Given the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan and the promotion of high-quality development of exchanges & cooperation among friendly cities of two countries, the two sides agreed on activities such as interschool visits and short video broadcast exhibition, in order to deepen understanding and friendship via the transmission of wonderful cities from the perspective of youngsters. The video meeting is an active measure of close and friendly exchanges against the backdrop of pandemic, the two cities hope to overcome the influence of COVID-19, carry out reciprocal visits and face-to-face exchanges, promote the friendly exchanges of two cities to a higher quality and deeper level.

Since Changchun and Chitose started exchanges in 1998 and established friendly relations in 2004, the two cities have conducted abundant exchanges over the past two decades in agriculture, economy & trade, culture, sports, education and other fields, obtaining fruitful results. During the outbreak of COVID-19, the two cities supported each other in critical times, sending materials for epidemic prevention and control, in order to tide over difficulties. In the future, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will continue promoting amicable exchanges and cooperation of two cities, make full use of resources of sister cities, thereby facilitating the development of two cities to a new level.
