Press Conference for the 2025-2026 New Snow Season Series
On November 5, Ruan Ganghui, Vice Mayor of Changchun, introduced the city's activities related to the new snow season at the first press conference for the 2025-2026 new snow season series.
Changchun is a wonderful place, with flowers in spring, a bright moon in autumn, cool breezes in summer, and snow in winter. As the new snow season approaches, the city will once again become a magnificent world of ice and snow. Under the two major themes of 'Learn to Ski in Changchun' and 'Changchun New World of Ice and Snow & Powder Snow Carnival', the city will make every effort to improve its products, activities, and services to enable citizens and tourists to fully enjoy the grand ice and snow event and experience the charm of ice and snow culture.
First, the city will upgrade its ice and snow products and create new ice and snow brands. Based on refinement and differentiation, it will focus on building a distinctive ice and snow layout featuring "one center, two parks, and six resorts" to meet the diverse and high-quality consumption needs of the public.
Xinmin Street, which became an instant hit after opening this summer, will be transformed into a street showcasing ice and snow technology and art during this snow season, where citizens and tourists can enjoy a unique ice and snow cultural corridor. Relying on ice sculptures and lighting and integrating the city's rich cultural heritage, the street will present a blend of historical charm and ice and snow art, while linking with Nanhu Park and surrounding business districts to form an ice and snow consumption matrix.
Two major ice and snow parks will become immersive worlds of joy. The upgraded Changchun New World of Ice and Snow covers a planned area of 1.56 million square meters, with 760,000 square meters dedicated to ice and snow recreation. It features more than 30 entertainment projects, including a one-kilometer snow rafting course and thrilling ice slides, as well as distinctive "China Snow Village" consumption scenes and new comprehensive services such as "heated lounges" and" brand commercial streets". Furthermore, during the 12th National Public Ice and Snow Season, the popular IP "Eggy Party" will be introduced, and the Changchun Powder Snow Carnival will be launched at Siji Nanhe Park, including an ice and snow castle and over 20 themed zones, creating a parent-child ice and snow park that offers an immersive "Ice and Snow + IP" experience.
Six ski resorts will build a comprehensive skiing ecosystem catering to everyone from beginners to professionals. While continuously upgrading the operational services of existing resorts such as Miaoxiang Mountain, Tianding Mountain, Lianhua Mountain, Jingyuetan, and Nanxili Four Seasons Snow PARK, this snow season will see the addition of the Changchun Wanda Mall Indoor Ski Resort, which boasts the steepest slope in Asia. With 52 ski trails, 21 conveyor belts, and 10 cableways across the city, a full-age skiing learning ecosystem will be established. Differentiated and professional facilities and services will meet diverse skiing needs, from beginners to advanced skiers, solidifying the brand image of "Learn to Ski in Changchun".
Second, the city will improve its ice and snow activities to create new highlights. Centered on the 29th Changchun Ice and Snow Festival, more than 200 high-quality special ice and snow activities will be planned and held, highlighting Jilin's characteristics and Changchun's elements.
In promoting "ice and snow + cultural tourism", iconic activities such as the opening ceremony of the Ice and Snow Festival and the Ice and Snow Carnival will be meticulously organized. These will include symphony concerts by the China National Opera House, premium cultural performances, music festivals, and concerts. Cultural activities like street concerts and art troupes performing in scenic areas will be further promoted. The city will also plan and hold ski resort opening ceremonies, ice harvesting festivals, and ice and snow park opening ceremonies. Various wonderful immersive performances in major ice and snow scenic areas, cultural venues, and characteristic business districts across the city will allow citizens and tourists to deeply feel the artistic atmosphere of ice and snow.
In optimizing "ice and snow + sports", the city will give full play to the leading and driving role of sports events to deeply integrate professional competitions with public recreation. It will build a multi-level and three-dimensional development pattern that spans from professional competitions to public participation and from elite athletes to young skiers. Major domestic and international sports events, such as the 12th National Public Ice and Snow Season, the National Elementary and Middle School Winter Games, and the 24th Vasaloppet China Ski Festival, will be introduced and held, while mass ice and snow sports will be widely promoted, including a series of activities for "Millions of Teenagers Participating in Ice and Snow Sports", to increase public participation and making ice and snow sports a new symbol of Changchun.
In promoting "ice and snow + commerce and trade", the city will organize the Jilin Snow Expo with high quality, as well as the Winter Agricultural Expo and the Changchun New Year's Shopping Expo, and launch the "Changchun Liyu" consumption cards, the ice and snow combo tickets covering "food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment", and exclusive vouchers for multiple sectors. The city will upgrade its specialty food list and must-visit consumption scene map, and launch activities such as the "Ice and Snow Business District Carnival", "Ice and Snow Food Festival", "Selected Jilin Product Live Streaming Festival", "Cultural and Creative Market", and "Spring Festival Goods Fair" at four core business districts—Hongqi Street, Guilin Road, Chongqing Road, and Eurasia Shopping Mall. Both online and offline channels will work together to build a consumption matrix "themed on ice and snow, guided by exhibitions, and featuring discounts across the entire chain", thereby continuously stimulating the potential and market vitality of ice and snow consumption.
In terms of transportation support, railway and flight schedules will be precisely coordinated, and passenger transport, bus, and rail capacities will be scientifically allocated, with sufficient emergency transport capacity reserved to handle passenger peaks. Airport shuttle services will be ensured until "the last arriving passenger". The city will optimize its bus routes and tourism lines to ensure smooth travel for tourists during the snow season by launching five ice and snow bus routes and two ice and snow tourism lines, and adjusting schedules for 12 bus routes passing by scenic areas and 33 nighttime bus routes.
Regarding service quality, guided by a visitor-centered approach, the city will strive to improve the quality of cultural tourism services during the snow season, strengthen integrated management of the tourism market, regulate market operations, and ensure that pre-job training for tourism-related sectors such as scenic areas, travel agencies, hotels, and shopping malls is in place. The goal is to provide warm and attentive services so that every visitor can feel the warmth of Changchun.
For tourism safety, the city will enhance safety production supervision, comprehensively identify and address potential risks, improve emergency response plans, and intensify emergency drills. Additionally, efforts will be made to strengthen support in transportation, pricing, complaint handling, and scenic area communication, ensuring that visitor concerns are promptly addressed and emergencies are effectively managed. Together, these measures will improve the operational quality of the entire ice and snow market and the visitor experience.
Xinmin Street and Siji Nanhe Park, which gained immense popularity this summer, will continue to shine in the upcoming ice and snow season with highlights in three aspects:
The first is to integrate winter and summer activities to create a new all-season tourism experience. The city will actively explore an all-season tourism model of "summer hits extended into winter". Building on the popularity of Xinmin Street in summer, the winter version of the "Xinmin Roaming Plan" will be launched, with featured events such as Xinmin Performances, Xinmin Parades, and Xinmin Market continuing to draw attention. In addition to the existing "Xinmin" brand activities, two new highlights—"Xinmin Installations" and "Xinmin Light Shows"—will debut this winter. Six sets of art installations will complement ice sculpture landscapes to create new must-visit interactive hotspots, while modern lighting technology will provide immersive night tour experiences, adding a dreamy touch to the ice and snow block. The Air Show in September brought wide domestic and international attention to Changchun. Capitalizing on this momentum, the city will launch immersive aviation-themed interactive experiences, along with "Little Pilot" study tours, to establish a year-round aviation-themed event system.
During
The second is to showcase the new charm of ice and snow activities through innovation. Changchun will work closely with Hunan TV to organize the opening ceremony of the Ice and Snow Festival, presenting a grand entertainment feast in the form of a North-South celebrity ice and snow competition, with the entire event broadcast live on Hunan TV. The popular variety show Hello Saturday will also be filmed in Changchun, showcasing the city's ice and snow charm to viewers nationwide. A Ski Training Alliance will be established to unify teaching standards and service systems and offer diverse skiing winter camps and training programs. Centered on the theme "Learn to Ski in Changchun", the New Snow Season Launch Ceremony & Ski Resort Opening Ceremony will be held at Changchun New World of Ice and Snow, featuring specially designed activities. The Siji Nanhe Powder Snow Carnival will promote the integration of culture, tourism, sports, and commerce by combining sports events, music performances, and folk experiences. On New Year's Eve, Siji Nanhe Park and CLOUD IX Block will serve as the main venues, with scenic areas and business districts across the city joining together to present the "Ice and Snow Carnival Night", offering a unique New Year's Eve experience amid the splendor of ice and snow.
The third is to foster a fresh atmosphere for ice and snow festivals through cultural empowerment. Focusing on enhancing the cultural content of ice and snow activities, Changchun will create diverse, high-quality festival experiences. In collaboration with the China National Opera House and Changying Orchestra, the city will present New Year symphony concerts, the Changchun citizens' Spring Festival gala, Changchun culture and tourism weekend concerts, and Changchun culture and tourism flash mob performances. Other public cultural programs will include a Spring Festival couplet calligraphy exhibition, a fine art exhibition, cultural lectures, public reading activities, and art training programs. Under the theme "Celebrate the Spring Festival with the Charm of Ice and Snow", the city will organize winter fishing, Spring Festival temple fairs, yangko parades, and other traditional folk activities, combined with intangible cultural heritage performances and Lantern Festival activities, to foster an immersive New Year atmosphere in the Spring City. Meanwhile, the city will continue to carry out its "All Citizens Participating in Ice and Snow Sports" and "Millions of Students Participating in Ice and Snow Sports" brand activities. It will also organize diverse programs like creative ice and snow sculpture competitions and employee ice and snow sports meets in parks, squares, and other public spaces to build a comprehensive and multi-level public participation system for ice and snow activities.
