On December 15, Changchun Xinglong Railway Port in the chilly winter was still in full swing as drivers operated the cranes to load and unload containers, one by one, in their designated positions.

This route, starting from Changchun and exiting through the Manzhouli Port, and ultimately reaching Europe, is the first channel of the China-Europe Railway Express in Jilin Province. Up to now, this rail route has transported over 90,000 TEUs of goods, with a total value of RMB 26 billion. In addition, with the gradual opening of new cross-border routes from Changchun to Moscow via Hunchun and Tongjiang North Railway Station, Jilin has been steadily expanding its path towards high-level opening-up. The China-Europe Railway Express (Changchun) has operated a total of 133 trains that transported 14,890 TEUs of goods in the first 11 months of 2024, up 24.3% and 26.6% year-on-year, respectively.

In the tide of global economic integration, the China-Europe Railway Express serves as a bridge that connects the Eurasian continent, creating new avenues for wider opening-up of cities along the route. Changchun also leverages the momentum of the China-Europe Railway Express to accelerate its integration into the world economy, glowing with new vitality and brilliance on the international stage.

As a crucial manufacturing hub for automobiles, agricultural product processing, and rail passenger car production in China, Changchun boasts a strong industrial foundation and abundant resources. However, being landlocked limits the expansion of its foreign trade to some extent. The operation of the China-Europe Railway Express has completely changed this situation, opening up a new gateway for Changchun's access into the European and Central Asian markets.

Since the beginning of this year, the railway department has been actively tailoring service solutions for relevant industries in the region. They have prioritized the allocation of transport capacity resources, optimized operation process and innovated loading schemes, greatly improving the operation quality of the China-Europe Railway Express (Changchun).

"We constantly improve transportation organization plans to enhance the quality and safety of goods transport. Through collaboration with customs, international land ports, and other partners, we continuously optimize business processes and supervision modes to ensure efficient and smooth customs declaration, inbound service and transportation of goods," said Du Yongping, Deputy Director of Changchun Railway Logistics Center. He further emphasized that Changchun Xinglong Railway Port has established a comprehensive specialized transport model, providing stable, secure, and efficient services for the transportation of relevant product categories. "Taking automotive transport as an example, we have shipped a total of 8,447 vehicles for export this year, including 7,827 vehicles such as FAW Group's Bestune and Hongqi, both of which have reached the highest quantity in recent years, effectively promoting the development of the entire automotive industry chain," Du Yongping added.

It is worth mentioning that while the number of outbound trains keeps increasing, the number of return trains also reaches a new high. From January to November this year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Changchun) has operated 28 return trains, transporting a total of 3,340 TEUs of goods, with a year-on-year growth of 154.5% and 178.8%, respectively. Featuring more pronounced full-load round-trip freight, two-way trips across Eurasia are constantly launched along the China-Europe Railway Express (Changchun).

The China-Europe Railway Express (Changchun) is not only a train that transports goods, but also a messenger of Changchun's interconnection with the world. It bears witness to Changchun's unwavering strides towards openness to the outside world and will undoubtedly bring more opportunities and possibilities for the future development of Changchun. It is believed that with the strong momentum of the China-Europe Railway Express, the vibrant city of Changchun will shine even brighter in the global economic arena, contributing even more significantly to the shared prosperity of China and the world.
