2026 FAW Hongqi Changchun Marathon Kicks Off with Passion: International Engagement Highlights the Event's Global Appeal
On the morning of May 17, the 2026 FAW Hongqi Changchun Marathon officially got underway in Changchun. Featuring a well-organized race structure and an energetic atmosphere, the event showcased in full the city's vibrant sporting spirit and its open, international urban character. Lu Yue, Vice Mayor of Changchun, attended the opening ceremony. Following the race, Lu presented awards to the top three finishers in the men's full marathon category, while Lu Chunye, Deputy Secretary General of the Changchun Municipal Government, awarded the top three finishers in the women's full marathon category.
This year's event featured a considerable international dimension, serving as an exceptional platform for foreign nationals to participate in Changchun's cultural and sporting life. To help the international community better integrate into the city and take a more active part in local sports initiatives, the Changchun Municipal Foreign Affairs Office coordinated efforts to engage expatriate employees from major foreign-invested enterprises, such as FAW-Volkswagen and FAW-Audi, in the race. According to statistics, this year's marathon brought together 65 foreign runners from 17 countries, including Germany, Japan, Argentina, South Korea, and Australia. Among them, 46 participated in the full marathon and 19 in the half marathon. The broad participation of international runners underscored the growing vitality and global influence of the Changchun Marathon brand.
To ensure the smooth participation of international runners and provide quality, attentive, and efficient event services, we had provided all-around logistical support with meticulous care. Prior to the event, we worked closely with the Municipal Bureau of Sports to refine support plans for overseas runners. During the race, interpreters remained on duty to provide professional translation services and address participants' needs in race information and communication. These efforts substantially elevated the experience for international runners and laid solid groundwork for the safe, orderly, and successful hosting of the marathon.
