On March 27, Gu Gang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Changchun, met with Jörn-Oliver Barth, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the High-Performance Polymers Business Line at Evonik Industries AG, along with his delegation. The group also conducted a research visit to Evonik High-Performance Materials (Jilin Changchun) Co., Ltd. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the transfer and commercialization of new materials, with a particular focus on the deep application of PEEK materials and the translation of scientific research achievements into practical outcomes.

Gu Gang noted that the new materials industry is a strategically emerging sector that Changchun is prioritizing for cultivation and development. Leveraging its world-class scientific research capabilities and foundations, Changchun is well-positioned to lay a solid groundwork for deepening practical cooperation with Evonik. As a globally leading specialty chemicals company, Evonik is a valued partner. Changchun is committed to harnessing its advantages in the concentration of scientific and educational resources, strengthening multi-party collaboration among government, enterprises, universities, and research institutes, and working hand in hand with Evonik to promote the high-quality development of the new materials industry.

Jörn-Oliver Barth spoke highly of Changchun's strengths in science and education as well as its business environment. He stated that building on the solid foundation of existing cooperation, Evonik plans to expand its industrial presence and increase investment in Changchun, and will accelerate the transition of PEEK materials at the Evonik Changchun base from medical-grade to chip-grade and aerospace-grade applications, contributing to Changchun's pursuit of high-quality development.
