Canadian Embassy Delegation Visits Changchun, Focusing on Deepening Practical Cooperation in Low-Altitude Economy and Biomedicine
From March 10 to 12, a two-member delegation led by Majid Dellah, Counselor of the Canadian Embassy in China, visited Changchun. The Changchun Municipal Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO) accompanied the delegation on field trips to Changchun New Area and Jingyue High-Tech Zone. Yang Xiaoping, Deputy Director of the CCFAO, met with the delegation to discuss ways to advance exchanges and cooperation between China and Canada in key industrial sectors.

In the Changchun New Area, the delegation visited GenSci Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a core subsidiary of Changchun High-Tech Industries (Group) Inc. They gained insights into the company's R&D capabilities, product lines, and market presence in genetic engineering and biopharmaceuticals. As a leading biopharmaceutical company in China, GenSci's innovative achievements left a strong impression on the Canadian side. The two parties held discussions on R&D collaboration, technology transfer, and international market expansion in the bio-health sector.

In the Jingyue High-tech Zone, the delegation visited the Changchun Low-altitude Flight Command Center. Serving as the "digital brain" of Changchun's low-altitude economy, the center showcased its capabilities in low-altitude airspace management, flight service support, and digital platform development. The delegation showed strong interest in the region's cold-climate low-altitude economy, including its current state of development, industrial layout, technological strengths, and future plans. The delegation also visited ATC Technology, where they learned about the company's work in developing unmanned aerial vehicles for diverse applications. Counselor Dellah commended Changchun's forward-looking initiatives and practical progress in the low-altitude economy and expressed interest in potential cooperation.
During the meeting, Deputy Director Yang Xiaoping highlighted Changchun's role as a regional hub in Northeast Asia, emphasizing its strong industrial base and notable advantages in automotive manufacturing, biomedicine, and optoelectronic information. She expressed hope that the Canadian Embassy would serve as a bridge to facilitate the introduction of Canadian expertise and resources, contributing fresh momentum to Changchun’s revitalization. Additionally, she invited the Canadian Embassy to actively participate in the event of Diplomatic Envoys in China for the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade.

Counselor Dellah noted that he was deeply impressed by Changchun and described the visit as highly productive. He pointed out Canada’s strength in clean technology, bio-health, and advanced manufacturing, emphasizing that the visit aimed not only to strengthen bilateral ties but also to identify practical avenues for collaboration and help establish direct connections between Canadian companies and local enterprises and industrial parks in Changchun.

The visit reflects the Canadian Embassy's growing interest in China's northeast region and its commitment to deepening sub-national cooperation. Through direct engagement, the Canadian side developed a clearer understanding of Changchun's industrial capacity and business environment. Moving forward, FAO Changchun will review the specific areas of interest raised by the Canadian side, maintain communication, and facilitate matchmaking events between local companies and Canadian partners. These efforts are expected to drive deeper collaboration in technology, capital, and markets, contributing to Changchun’s high-quality development.
