Changchun-Hong Kong Optoelectronics Collaboration Yields Fruitful Results as Event Wraps Up
From January 6 to 8, 2026, a delegation of Hong Kong optoelectronics enterprises, led by Zhong Yongxi, Chief Representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Mainland China, visited Changchun. This visit marked the official launch of a series of cooperation and exchange activities in the optoelectronics industry between the two cities. Centered on the principle of "complementary resources and collaborative win-win outcomes," the exchange built a solid bridge for in-depth industrial integration through diverse formats including dedicated matchmaking sessions and field visits.

On January 7, the Changchun-Hong Kong Optoelectronics Industry-University-Research-Finance Cooperation Matchmaking Conference was successfully held at the Changchun New Quality Productivity Development Promotion Center. The event was co-hosted by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of CCFAO and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, with support from the Changchun New Area Administrative Committee and the Changchun Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau as the assisting organizer. It was specifically undertaken by the Center itself. The conference brought together 50 representatives from government, enterprises, and academia. The Hong Kong delegation comprised 17 members from 9 high-quality optoelectronics companies. The Changchun side had 33 participants, including representatives from 12 relevant units in the Changchun New Area and 9 local key enterprises. During the conference, enterprises from both sides conducted project presentations and articulated their needs in turn, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics such as technological R&D, market expansion, and capital cooperation. The on-site interaction was dynamic, yielding preliminary results and laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.

In addition to the dedicated matchmaking sessions, the Hong Kong delegation also conducted field visits to key institutions and industrial parks, including the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., Jilin Yongli Laser Technology Co., Ltd., the Optoelectronics Industrial Park in the Economic Development Zone, the FAW Hongqi Exhibition Hall, and the FAW Fanying (Prosperity) production line. These on-site visits provided Hong Kong enterprises with a deeper understanding of Changchun's solid foundation and unique strengths in core optoelectronics technology R&D, high-end manufacturing support, and industrial cluster development. Concurrently, local Changchun enterprises gained insights from Hong Kong's advanced experience in accessing international market resources and its sophisticated industrial service systems.

As an important practice in revitalizing Northeast China's traditional industrial base and leveraging the complementary strengths of Hong Kong's industries, the success of this Changchun-Hong Kong optoelectronics cooperation and exchange initiative has not only facilitated precise matching of industrial resources but also opened a new chapter in collaborative innovation across industry, academia, research, and finance. Moving forward, both sides will seize the momentum from this exchange to deepen cooperation across the optoelectronics industry chain, accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements, promote talent and resource sharing, and jointly foster a robust industrial ecosystem, thereby contributing to a new era of regional coordinated development. The Changchun Municipal Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs will continue to follow up on the cooperative projects identified during the matchmaking sessions and facilitate their prompt implementation.
