On December 7, the 2025 Changchun International Medicine and Health Industry Expo & Changbai Mountain Ginseng Industry High-Quality Development Conference opened at the Northeast Asia International Expo Center. Wu Haiying, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, announced the opening of the event. Academician Huang Luqi, Deputy Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and President of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Zhang Enhui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, and Zhang Boli, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered speeches. Provincial and municipal leaders Liu Kai, Wang Zhihou, and Gao Zhiguo attended the event. Mayor Gu Gang presided over the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Zhang Enhui extended a warm welcome on behalf of Changchun City to all guests attending the conference, and expressed gratitude to friends from all sectors who have long cared about and supported the development of Changchun. He remarked that the biomedicine and life health industries are hailed as the sunrise industries that never set. When General Secretary Xi Jinping listened to the work reports of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government on February 8 this year, he emphasized the need to build a modern industrial system with Jilin characteristics, vigorously develop strategic emerging industries with new energy, new equipment, new materials, and new medicine as breakthrough directions, and plan the construction of future industries. 

The CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government have advanced the building of a strong pharmaceutical province at a high level by taking the ginseng industry as a breakthrough point and vigorously promoting the inheritance and innovation of TCM. The "King of Herbs" has regained its vitality and demonstrated strong development momentum. Following General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and the deployments of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, Changchun has taken the medicine and health industry as an important focus for building a modern industrial system with Changchun characteristics and cultivating new quality productive forces, and planned the construction of Yongchun Biomedical City to high standards. It adheres to the integration of medical science, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and elderly care, and promotes full-chain, cluster-based, and transformative industrial development. The medicine and health industry has maintained double-digit growth for two consecutive years, with the total scale surpassing RMB 120 billion. This year's CMHIE, held with the Changbai Mountain Ginseng Industry High-Quality Development Conference, is bound to become an industry event that promotes TCM culture and leads the development of the medicine and health industry. Zhang expressed the hope that all participants would take medicine as a medium and the expo as a bridge to reach more practical cooperation, jointly polish the golden brand of "Jilin Changbai Mountain Ginseng", and create a bright future for the high-quality development of the medicine and health industry.

In his speech, Huang Luqi congratulated the opening of the conference on behalf of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He said that the proposals of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee regarding the "15th Five-Year Plan" put forward "promoting the inheritance and innovation of TCM and facilitating the integration of TCM and Western medicine", charting a new blueprint for promoting the inheritance, innovation, and development of TCM under the new situation. The conference, with the theme of "New Quality Leads Health, Technology Co-creates the Future", holds great significance. He hoped that the event would serve as an opportunity to accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces in the field of TCM, build a high-quality development pattern for the TCM industry, and inject strong momentum into improving people's health and well-being and advancing the Chinese path to modernization.

Academician Zhang Boli said in his speech that TCM, as a great creation of the Chinese nation, is the wisdom crystallization of the Chinese ancestors who lived in harmony with nature and explored the mysteries of life. Ginseng, with its unique qualities and remarkable efficacy, has long been honored as the "King of Herbs". In recent years, Jilin Province, with strong historical consciousness and strategic foresight, has taken the ginseng industry as a key lever for revitalization and development and built the international brand of "Jilin Changbai Mountain Ginseng". He hoped that all industry elites gathered at the grand event would engage in deep exchanges, share achievements, and discuss cooperation, thereby contributing wisdom and strength to the innovative development of the medicine and health industry, the transformation and upgrading of the Jilin Changbai Mountain ginseng industry, and the enhancement of human health and well-being.

Tang Hanfeng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, delivered a speech, expressing the hope to deepen Cambodia-China cooperation in agriculture and health and create greater development opportunities for enterprises of both countries.

At the opening ceremony, the Changchun Declaration on Forest Ginseng Development was released, and the geographical indication of Changbai Mountain Ginseng was announced.

The three-day expo adheres to a simple, pragmatic, and efficient exhibition approach, balancing professional depth and public orientation. Guided by specialization, internationalization, leadership, professionalism, and public participation, the event plans about 30 activities across six major categories. A total of 534 enterprises are participating, with more than half being non-local exhibitors. Among them are 25 Fortune Global 500 companies and 25 China 500 companies, as well as 97 listed companies. During the event, academic and trade matchmaking activities such as ginseng industry exchange meetings, project roadshows, and free medical consultations for the benefit of the public will also be held.

The opening ceremony was attended by relevant municipal leaders, Castro, Chairman of the ruling party of Bolivia, representatives of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering and foreign academicians, and famous enterprises, universities, research institutes, hospitals, key exhibiting enterprises from home and abroad, as well as officials from brother cities in Jilin.
