From November 5 to 10, the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. This year's expo set a new record in scale, attracting 4,108 overseas enterprises and participants from 155 countries, regions, and international organizations,  showcasing the robust dynamism of global trade cooperation.

At this grand event, the Changchun trade delegation, comprising key industry leaders, achieved breakthroughs in both transaction volume and cooperation quality by inviting and expanding business sources, linking exhibitions with enterprises, securing agreements, and accelerating investment promotion. The delegation gathered 352 registered units and 1,028 professional visitors, covering key industries such as automobiles, optoelectronics, agriculture, and healthcare, laying a solid foundation for precise matchmaking.

Brand Exposure: Enhancing Changchun's Global Profile

Leveraging the CIIE as a platform for cultural exchanges, the Changchun trade delegation not only "brought in" global wisdom but also "went global" to showcase the city's strength.

The delegation actively participated in CIIE's cultural exchange activities while setting up a booth for high-quality export products. It organized 11 leading enterprises, including China FAW Group Import & Export Co., Ltd., CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., Chang Guang Satellite, Daqi Optics, Cedar Electronics, Xilong Electronics, VANSFUL, CBM Ginseng, Rongang Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Yushuqian Trading Co., Ltd., and Huayu Kangyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd., to collectively showcase their premium products.

During the expo, the delegation's booth received a total of 3,000 visitors, achieved on-site transactions of nearly RMB 100,000, and secured letters of intent worth RMB 85.08 million, serving as an important window to showcase Changchun's industrial strengths.

Notably, the FAW Hongqi Golden Sunflower concept car drew attention from domestic and international clients.

Huayu Kangyuan Biotechnology, a first-time exhibitor, performed remarkably well. Its ginsenoside products successfully caught the attention of Ning Feng, President of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The company's products sold exceptionally well at the expo, resulting in letters of intent worth RMB 1.12 million, including over RMB 500,000 in export orders to Russia and other European countries, giving a strong boost to the global reach of ginseng products.

Rongang Biotechnology signed a sales order with Forest Cabin, China's top high-end skincare brand, for 1.5 tons of red ginseng tails valued at RMB 300,000, achieving precise matchmaking between specialty agricultural products and the high-end consumer market.

CBM Ginseng further expanded its premium channels by actively engaging in product selection with New Star Group Co., Ltd., which operates 486 chain stores and maintains close partnerships with Moutai and Haier. Intended transactions involved over 30 products, further enhancing the market penetration of ginseng products and effectively promoting the scaled development of the industry.

Mutual Empowerment: Activating New Cooperation Momentum

Focusing on the new CIIE brand concept "Big Market for All: Export to China", the Changchun trade delegation precisely matched supply and demand, facilitating import and export cooperation.

In terms of import procurement, the delegation promoted the signing of cooperation agreements. It organized companies such as Jiusan Group, Haoyue Group, Eurasia Shopping Mall Chain, and Changchun International Land Port Development Co., Ltd. to sign agreements covering imported agricultural food products, daily chemical products, and medical devices. It also facilitated cooperation on multimodal transport projects between Changchun International Land Port Development Co., Ltd. and DP World, as well as COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Germany) GmbH. The total contract value reached USD 794.8 million (approximately RMB 5.64 billion), a year-on-year increase of 5.36%, accounting for 98.9% of the province's total, providing high-quality supply to support Changchun's industrial upgrading.

"We mainly focus on soybean procurement in our international cooperation. We have formally signed contracts with globally renowned agricultural giants like Louis Dreyfus Company, ADM, and Syngenta," said Fan Ligang, General Manager of Jiusan Group Changchun branch, in an interview with reporters. He attributed the steady increase in this year's contract value compared to last year to the continuously optimized market layout and deeper bilateral cooperation, which has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent coordinated development of the industrial chain.

Long-Term Planning: Leveraging CIIE's Benefits

To amplify the comprehensive effect of CIIE, the Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce established a full-chain service mechanism of "information collectionprecise promotionmatchmaking and implementation". It summarized core resources such as exhibitor information and booth distribution in real time and directed them to various counties (cities), districts, and key enterprises, ensuring seamless connection among pre-expo matchmaking, on-site negotiations, and post-expo follow-up, and transforming the expo's immediate benefits into long-term gains.

The expo saw multiple highlights of the Changchun trade delegation. The Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce visited Tesla's booth to coordinate an increased supply of new vehicles in Changchun, which would assist in upgrading the local automotive consumption market. It held discussions with Metro AG to clarify the local sales statistics matters for its two retail stores in Changchun. It also collaborated with CREC Northeast Asia International Expo Center to connect with GL events and DLG Exhibitions & Events Co., Ltd., for the introduction of high-end exhibitions like an in vitro diagnostic circulation exhibition and a low-altitude economy exhibition. Additionally, it negotiated with Vipshop to set up a dedicated area for Changchun's local premium products on its platform and encouraged the company's subsidiary in Changchun to expand beyond home appliances and 3C electronics into clothing, general merchandise, and other categories, thereby enriching the local industrial ecosystem.

Commerce authorities from various counties, districts (cities), and development zones, based on their regional industrial characteristics, established connections with exhibitors, international organizations, foreign business associations, industry associations, and investment promotion institutions. Dedicated personnel were assigned to visit exhibition halls and booths, proactively introduce their local situations, and conduct one-on-one targeted matchmaking. Intensive booth visits were carried out to reserve a large number of high-quality projects for future cooperation.

An official from the Changchun Municipal Bureau of Commerce stated that the next step would be to use CIIE as an opportunity to focus on project implementation and results transformation and establish a tracking and service guarantee mechanism for key projects. By targeting advantageous industries like automobiles, optoelectronics, and digital economy, they will deeply explore the spillover effect of CIIE, promote deeper and more substantive cross-regional and multi-field cooperation, and allow the benefits of opening up and cooperation to continuously drive Changchun's high-quality development.
