FAW-Volkswagen's First Batch of Export Vehicles Officially Rolls Off Production Line
On September 23, FAW-Volkswagen held a ceremony at its Changchun base to mark the roll-off of its first batch of export vehicles. A total of 554 Magotan and Sagitar vehicles will be shipped from Shanghai Port on September 28 and are scheduled to enter the Middle East market in November.
At the ceremony, the first new vehicle, numbered "FAW-Volkswagen Export 000001", drove onto the stage. The car key was handed over to Matthias Ziegler, General Manager of Volkswagen Middle East, followed by a plaque presentation ceremony for the first export vehicle. This moment signified not only the delivery of a product but also the official launch of FAW-Volkswagen's overseas operations, marking a starting point for the company's journey toward internationalization.
In his speech, Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of FAW Group and General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen, emphasized the profound strategic significance of this breakthrough in overseas operations. It is both an active response to China's policy of high-level opening-up and a concrete implementation of regional economic development strategies. Moreover, it provides key support for the global expansion plans of its two shareholders and represents an inevitable choice for FAW-Volkswagen to achieve its strategic objectives.
The export of this first batch of vehicles to the Middle East marks a historic "zero to one" breakthrough for FAW-Volkswagen's overseas business and represents a significant step for China's auto industry, particularly for joint-venture brands, into the international market. It signals a new stage of openness and cooperation in China's auto industry and sets a new replicable model for other joint ventures going global in the new era.
As the only joint-venture automaker in China under the control of a central enterprise, FAW-Volkswagen's move is a concrete implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and a practical action to deepen international cooperation and contribute to the new development paradigm. By introducing products to overseas markets, FAW-Volkswagen is facilitating the global presence of Chinese industrial resources and quality production capacity, strengthening the domestic-international dual circulation development pattern. This demonstrates the company's determination to set a "new benchmark for high-quality development and high-level opening-up". It also represents a new image of high-quality global expansion for the Chinese manufacturing industry, injects fresh momentum into Sino-German cooperation, and sets a new standard for win-win collaboration in the global auto industry.
FAW-Volkswagen has witnessed rapid project implementation from negotiation and project approval to production and delivery, creating an "impressive speed in its globalization efforts". Behind this achievement lies the strong consensus and close cooperation of both shareholders, as well as the deep integration of Chinese and German technology, management, and systems. It is worth noting that FAW-Volkswagen completed tailored designs for multiple models to meet overseas requirements for climate, road conditions, and regulations, while simultaneously establishing a comprehensive export support system covering technology, production, logistics, and after-sales services, showcasing the increasingly mature overseas operations capabilities of China's auto industry.
Looking ahead, FAW-Volkswagen has clearly identified overseas operations as a key growth driver and is committed to becoming "the leading exporter among Chinese automotive joint-venture brands". Adopting a new approach of "deepening local roots and expanding globally", the company is exploring new pathways, building experience, and contributing wisdom to the high-quality global expansion of China's auto industry. A new journey has begun, and the future is here. In the globalization process of China's auto industry, FAW-Volkswagen's first batch of export vehicles to the Middle East is not just reaching the international market but also steering China's auto industry into a new era of greater openness, confidence, and maturity.
