On August 18, the 3rd China-Russia Sister Cities Chess Friendly Match, hosted by the Government of Kazan, Russia, was successfully held in Kazan. As one of the major events of the 3rd "Sprouts: Russia and China—Mutually Beneficial Cooperation" International Forum, the match aimed to promote deeper friendly cooperation between Chinese and Russian cities through sports exchanges. The Changchun Municipal Foreign Affairs Office collaborated with Changchun Municipal Sports Federation to organize six players from Huizhi Chess Club to participate online, marking the city's third consecutive engagement in this cross-border event.

This event attracted 186 players representing 31 cities in China and Russia, including Changchun's sister cities Krasnoyarsk and Ulan-Ude. Combining both online and offline games, it provided a platform for young players from both countries to showcase their skills and forge friendships. The six young players from Changchun competed with composure and steady performance, demonstrating strong skills and sportsmanship, earning unanimous praise from the organizers and their opponents.

As a bridge of intellectual sports, this match not only facilitated skill exchanges between Chinese and Russian youth, but also deepened mutual understanding and cooperation between the local cities of the two countries. As a model project of China-Russia local friendship and cooperation, this match has provided a stable platform for youth exchanges between the two countries.

In the future, the Changchun Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will continue to support such international sports and cultural exchange activities and explore more diversified modes of international interaction to promote sister-city relations toward broader and deeper development.
