Changchun World Sculpture Park Ice and Snow Project to Kick Off on December 28
Winter in Changchun is brimming with excitement as various ice and snow tourism projects are unveiled one after another. The ice and snow project at Changchun World Sculpture Park was under intensive construction a few days ago and it will officially open on December 28, running until late February 2025.
In the new snow season, under the theme "Spring City in Northern China, Snowy World of Entertainment", the project at Changchun World Sculpture Park integrates elements like ice and snow, light and shadow, and entertainment to create five major sections, three distinctive highlights, and a variety of experiences. It features "ice and snow + light and shadow" artistic scenes such as the fantastic "ice and fire" stage and ice ballet performances, offering a fresh and unique ice and snow tourism experience that blends traditional and modern art while uniting Eastern and Western cultures.
The five sections, centered around ice and snow culture and tourism, are effectively connected in the park, each with distinct highlights. Intangible cultural heritage craftsmen from Zigong, Sichuan—known as the "Hometown of Chinese Lanterns"—have meticulously created Qin and Han-style structures, using traditional color lantern art to restore the aesthetic beauty of classical architecture. Modern mechanical elements are combined with traditional color lantern art in creations like "Beautiful Phoenix", "Auspicious Lion", and "Mecha Kylin", producing fantastical "auspicious" mythical creatures with ACG elements to appeal to younger visitors. Additionally, the park will present an innovative "ice and fire" stage, bringing an integrated performance of an ice and snow light show, a digital flame show, and a traditional iron fireworks show. The large-scale live-action performance titled Ice Play Painting will recreate ancient scenes. Actors from the Russian Royal Ice Dance Troupe will present ice ballet performances and choreographed ice dances set to Chinese classical music The Butterfly Lovers and Jasmine Flower, highlighting the unique charm of ice art.
This winter, Changchun World Sculpture Park invites citizens and tourists to embark on a magical journey of art and snow.
