The Conference for the Promotion of Sister Cities of Changchun Auto Clusters was held as part of China-Germany Automobile Congress in Changchun City on October 19, 2021. The effort is meant to implement in a thorough manner the important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection trip to Jilin, and the “one pillar, six pairs” strategy for the high-quality development of Jilin Province, join hands with all cities, prefecture and FAW as well as experts and entrepreneurs in the field of automobile industry at home and abroad to renew friendly relations, discuss project cooperation and common development, and thus promote the high-quality development of automobile industry of Jilin Province. Zhang Zhijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, delivered a speech. Wang Zilian, Mayor of Changchun City, presided over the conference. 

Liu Dianxun, Director of Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce, and Wang Guoqiang, Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of FAW Group, attended the conference. 

Zhang Zhijun extended his welcome to the leaders, guests and entrepreneurs invited to the conference, saying, “Changchun is now implementing in a thorough manner the important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the ‘one pillar, six pairs’ strategy for high-quality development deployed by the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, with resolutions to carry out the responsibility as a capital city and press ahead with the effort of building up a modern metropolis to promote the construction of a strong industrial city, a strong agricultural city, a strong eco-friendly city and a regional innovation center, a regional consumption center and a creative center for culture and tourism. The International Automobile Town in particular shall be taken as a core support for the construction of a strong industrial city under which all involved in the province shall work as one to deepen “five cooperation” and accelerate “six returns”, and make every effort to promote the integration of industrial chains, the construction of projects, the common sharing of platforms, and the creation of a favorable environment to build industrial clusters for automobile industry. We will focus on the ‘three goals at trillion level’ for complete vehicles, supporting facilities and services, deepen city-prefecture cooperation, help FAW to create a world-class enterprise and a world-class international automobile town, and speed up the construction of a new development paradigm under which enterprise clusters congregate for the development of automobile industry led by FAW and pillared by Changchun International Automobile Town. The fast-growing Changchun sincerely invites entrepreneurs and friends from all walks of life to share development opportunities and contribute to all-round revitalization.” 

Wang Guoqiang expressed his thanks to relevant ministries and commissions, Jilin Province and Changchun City for their long-term help and support for FAW. Wang also introduced the development of FAW, especially the planning on the development of brand Hongqi. Wang indicated that efforts would be made to join hands with Jilin Province, Changchun City as well as other cities and prefecture in the province to attract more investors, projects, talents, better ecologically matched enterprises for the construction of Changchun International Automobile Town, and the promotion of high-quality development of automobile industry of Jilin Province. 

At the conference, the representatives of six cities including Changchun, Jilin, Siping, Liaoyuan, Songyuan and Baicheng made promotional presentations. 

The leaders and guests witnessed the signing of 18 key cooperation projects with a total contractual amount of RMB21 billion held after the conference was declared open. 

Among the participants present at the conference included the leaders of commerce, reform and commission of Jilin Province including Song Gelong, Wang Haiying and Zhao Xinrui, the officials of counties (cities), districts and development zones as well as the representatives of sister city governments of Changchun Automobile Clusters, leaders of development and reform, industry and information technology and commerce, department leaders of FAW, leaders of spare parts enterprises, and more than 400 representatives of auto parts suppliers from home and abroad.
