Jilin province improves quality and performance of cross-border e-commerce In 2020, retail imports and exports grow by 178 percent year on year

In the past year, cross-border e-commerce has become the first choice for enterprises to carry out international trade and the pioneer of foreign trade innovation and development. In 2020, the total transaction volume of Jilin province's cross-border e-commerce was 3.36 billion yuan, up 25 percent year on year, and the transaction volume of cross-border e-commerce retail imports and exports reached 970 million yuan, up 178 percent.

Last year, the Provincial Department of Commerce worked toward the "six stability" work and "six security" tasks, took the "Digital Jilin" construction as the overarching principle, focused on boosting the establishment of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, the cooperation between enterprises and well-known cross-border e-commerce platforms, the development of cross-border e-commerce retail import and export business, the construction of key projects, the incubation of cross-border e-commerce businesses and the cultivation of talents, made great efforts to improve the quality and performance of the province's cross-border e-commerce and kept fostering new growth areas in foreign trade and new drivers for high-quality trade development with positive results. Jilin city was approved as the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, and Hunchun city was approved as the cross-border e-commerce retail import pilot city. The implementation plan for the construction of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones in Hunchun and Jilin was printed and issued as a document of the provincial government. The cross-border freight charter flight from Changchun to Seoul went into service, the Jilin-Zhejiang Cross-border E-commerce Operation Center was officially put into operation, the Changchun Xinglong Comprehensive Bonded Zone completed the first O2O bonded exhibition business test of cross-border e-commerce, Hunchun successfully launched a monitoring system for the cross-border e-commerce export commodity returns and the "1210" supervision code. With the deepening of cooperation with well-known cross-border e-commerce platforms, 417 enterprises across the province were on the Alibaba international platform for global wholesale trade, up 23 percent compared with last year, and more than 150 enterprises were on the global resources website. Intensive cross-border e-commerce policy publicity and training activities were launched online and offline, with thousands of people attending.

This year, the Provincial Department of Commerce will continue to focus on the construction of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones and promote the joint development of the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones in Changchun, Jilin and Hunchun. The department will also carry out the action of "Jilin products going overseas" and increase efforts to support enterprises to start their businesses on well-known cross-border e-commerce platforms.
