The 1st Cloud Cooperation and Project Signing Ceremony of China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone was held on June 29, 2020. At the ceremony, 37 key projects with a total amount of RMB62 billion were signed. Wang Kai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee attended and joined the video conference at the ceremony. Zhang Zhijun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and Mayor of Changchun City, presided over the signing ceremony.

“Today, with ‘cloud’ as the medium and ‘internet’ as the bridge, we meet and talk for common development!” said Wang Kai at the video conference, adding, “On behalf of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Changchun City, I would like to extend my congratulations to all entrepreneurs for your signing of projects at this ceremony. I would also like to take this chance to express my thanks to all friends from all walks of life for your care and support for the revitalization and development of Changchun City.”

Wang Kai pointed out:“ In face of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, Changchun has been unswervingly implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, putting in place the decisions and deployments made by the Central Government and the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, promoting in a coordinated way epidemic prevention and control and socioeconomic development, and implementing the “six priorities” and “stability in six aspects”, which in turn has brought about an upward momentum for socioeconomic development.” For the next step, according to Wang Kai, all involved shall firmly grasp the rare opportunity to put the construction of the demonstration zone in the overall planning for the revitalization of Northeast China and the regional cooperation and development of Northeast Asia, promote it in the overall layout of the construction of city clusters in the middle part of Jilin Province and the modern metropolitan rim of Changchun City, adhere to new development concept, insist on high-quality development, and focus on the construction of an opening up and cooperation pattern in such fields as industry, science, technology, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchange and environmental protection, give priority to innovation in cooperative system and mechanism with the outside world, set up a modern industrial system, put active efforts into cultivating and expanding key industrial clusters such as digital economy, top-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing, speed up the construction of national cooperation platforms, internationalization and opening up platforms, system and mechanism innovation platforms, and strive to create a new road for innovative, opening up and high-quality development so as to make China (Changchun) –ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone an eye-catching business card for opening up of Jilin Province and a shining pearl for cooperation and development in Northeast Asia.

Zhang Zhijun read the letter of congratulations from the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation of ROK. It says in the letter that the two sides shall start from a long-term perspective to maintain constructive communications so as to make China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone a popular investment destination for the enterprises from ROK. The ceremony was highlighted by the video speech by Ambassador Xing Haiming of China to ROK and that by the vice mayor of Ulsan, ROK.

Among the 37 projects signed with a total amount of RMB62 billion for such fields as medical health, new energy, health preservation, industrial fund, higher learning institution and research institute there are 22 industrial projects, four financial agreements, five agreements for higher learning institutions and research institutes and six others. Insiders say the quantity, quality and clear direction of these projects have made this ceremony a big difference.

Leader of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, made special promotional presentations. Government officials of provincial and municipal departments including Wang Lu, Li Zhongbin, Song Gelong and Wang Haiying attended the ceremony.
