The business of making “toy bricks”-like products for building buildings, subway stations and comprehensive underground piping corridors is expected to have a broad future. Then, where such “toy bricks” can be made? The Yatai Industrial Park for Industrialized Building Products, which is located in Erdao District, might be a right production base for such prefabricated components. The first phase of the project has been completed and put into operation. The second phase is now under construction which is scheduled to meet production conditions in May and will be completed before the end of this year.

According to the project manager, the total investment is RMB960 million, covering a land area of 275,000 square meters and a construction area of 200,000 square meters. After going operational, the industrial park will be able to make 280,000 cubic meters of prefabricated components and 800,000 cubic meters of commercial concretes a year. The annual sales revenue and tax revenue are expected to reach RMB1.12 billion and RMB110 million respectively.

With the great support from Erdao District, the first phase of the project has been completed and put into operation in 2018 for making such assembled municipal components as shielding segments for subway, prefabricated comprehensive piping corridors as well as relevant PC-based components mainly including prefabricated wallboards, staircases, balconies and laminated panels. The second phase is said to be for making municipal bridge components and commercial concretes, including prefabricated pier columns, cap beams, box girders, etc.

“Using prefabricated components costs less energy, water, land and raw materials and is more environmentally friendly,” the project manager said, adding, “Such an industrialized way of construction can reduce 83% of construction wastes, save 60% of raw materials and conserve 50% of energies. The leakage rate of external walls is less than 0.01%. The labor forces can be reduced at least 25% to 30% and construction time can be reduced by 25%.”
