On August 6, at the press conference for the 20th Changchun Film Festival, it was announced that the event will be held in Changchun from August 23 to 28, 2025. At that time, Chinese filmmakers will gather in Changchun to celebrate the grand occasion and discuss the future development of Chinese-language cinema.

According to Tong Yicai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, Director of the Publicity Department, and Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee and Director of the Executive Committee of the 20th Changchun Film Festival, this year's event is themed "New Era, New Cradle, New Forces, New Journey". It features six key segments: opening and closing ceremonies, film awards, film screening, film exchanges, tributes to the "Cradle", and industry integration, offering a comprehensive showcase of the innovation and heritage of Chinese-language cinema.

It is reported that the film submission process for this year’s festival concluded on August 1, with a total of 150 films collected. The "Golden Deer Award" will feature 10 categories. Centered on the principle of "openness, sharing, and public benefit", the festival will launch a variety of screening events, including the "Changchun Film Studio Classic Films Exhibition", the "Colorful Images Themed Screening Week", the "Russian Masterpieces Showcase", and the "Guangming Cinema", barrier-free charitable film screening. Through a diverse lineup, the festival aims to tell compelling Chinese stories and share the emotional resonance of cinema with wider audiences.

During the festival, filmmakers across the entire industry chain, including directors and producers, will gather in Changchun for in-depth discussions on the high-quality development of Chinese cinema. A series of high-caliber exchange activities will be held, such as the 8th Forum on New Forces in Chinese Cinema, the 2nd Chinese Film Producers Summit, and the Forum on New Literary Talents. The festival will also revitalize the spiritual legacy of Changchun Film Studio as the "Cradle of New China's Cinema" through diverse activities. By continuously advancing the "film +" cross-sector empowerment strategy, enabling the Studio's revolutionary heritage to thrive with vibrant vitality in the new era. Furthermore,by continuously advancing the "Film+" cross-industry empowerment strategy, the festival will solidify a new framework for diversified and sustainable development in Jilin Province's film industry. Additionally, events like the "Golden Deer Venture Capital Initiative" and "Investment Attraction for Cultural Industries" will be organized.
