The 8th China Changchun International Ceramic Art Invitational Exhibition & the First “Lianhuashan Cup” Ceramic Art Contest 

 

Ⅰ.  Tenet

To carry forward ceramic art and promote development, exchanges and cooperation on   international ceramic art, Municipal People's Government of Changchun City plans to hold the 8th China Changchun International Ceramic Art Invitational Exhibition and the First “Lianhuashan Cup” Ceramic Art Contest, so as to establish an exchanges platform for artists of the world to develop and achieve development and prosperity of modern international ceramic art.

Registration time: Before May 10th, 2019.

Time of selecting: May 10th, 2019--- May 20th, 2019.

Ⅴ. The competing range

All ceramists can apply worldwide.

 

Ⅵ. Entry Requirements

Each contestant will submit three entries (You can carry 1 or 2 works, create 2 or 1 works on-site)

1. Use ceramic art to fully express the theme of the contest.

2. Artistic expressions are original and unique.

3. The work has a certain depth of thinking and cultural reflection.

4. The artworks must be shown the maturity mastering of the ceramic material and technology.

5. More than 50% of the materials should be ceramic.

 

Ⅶ. Prize Settings

Lianhuashan Cup Awards,     2 persons,           100,000 RMB / person

Gold Awards,                         5 persons,           50,000 RMB / person

Silver Awards,                      10 persons,          20,000 RMB / person

Honorary Mentions,              33 persons,          5,000 RMB / person

 (Each entrant can only win one entry, and all three entries must meet the criteria for inclusion)

 

Ⅷ. Cost and Protection

1. The organizer will provide participants with international or domestic transportation to Changchun,

2. The organizer will provide the designated hotel accommodation and catering free of charge,

3. The organizer will organize participants to visit the cultural relics free of charge. For events not organized by the organizer, participants shall pay for their own expenses,

4. The organizer provides working translators (English) for non-Chinese speaking ceramists,

5. The organizer will provide medical insurance for the artists during the competition.

 

Ⅸ.Registration and Selection

1.    The artists need to upload all of the necessary information online for registration. Each artist needs to submit high-resolution images of 3 works (In JPG format, the resolution is not less than 300DPI, the image is not less than 3M, and the image file is named according to the author's name ~ the work name ~ the specification ~ the material format.). Send via email it to laddercherry321@163.com with the completed entry form (Attachment 1). (The entry form should be completed in Chinese or English.)

2.    The organizing committee solicits opinions from the jury committee to select the submitted works. The shortlist of entries will be announced before May20th. And an official invitation is issued to the selected the artists.

3.    The jury committee selects the ceramic works after the artist's creation

 

Ⅹ.  Jury Committee

The Ceramics Competition will set up Judging Committee; the entries will be fair, just, publicly selected and validated; the members of the judging panel will be composed of 7 world-renowned ceramic artists, experts and scholars; director general of the jury will be Mr. Zhou Guangzhen, Member of the Council of IAC.

 

Ⅺ. Equipment and Materials

1. Sets of gas heated kilns (1.5m³、0.8m³)、2 sets of electric kilns(1.0m³)

2. Throwing machines, clay-board machine, pug mill.

3. Jingdezhen clay, Jingdezhen porcelain clay, Shandong clay, Liao Ning purple clay,

4. More than 20 kinds of high temperature and medium temperature glaze.

(Artists prepare their own special materials and tools)

 

Ⅻ.  Intellectual Property and Copyright Statement

1. The contestants’ work must be original and not infringe the copyright, reputation or any other legal rights of a third party. If violations are found, the organizing committee has the right to withdraw bonuses and honor certificates.

2. Contestants have the right to authorize the work and share the copyright with the organizer.

3. Contestants are deemed to agree and accept this statement and do not need to confirm it in writing or otherwise.

4. The ownership of all works in this contest belongs to Changchun International Ceramic Gallery for permanent collection and will offer the Collection Certificate.

5. All disputes related to this event are adapted to the relevant laws of the People's Republic of China and resolved in Changchun City. The organizer has the final right to interpret this event.

 

XIII. Obligations of participants

1.    All of the awards amount are before tax. The income tax will be deducted based the tax law of the People's Republic of China.

2.   Competitors have the obligation to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies, BBS and other activities during the competition,

3.   Contestants are required to provide a written description of their work to the organizer

 

ⅩⅣ. Lianhuashan International Ceramics Forum

1. Time: July 27, 2019

2. Venue: “Lianhuashan International Ceramic Art Forum” will be held in the Lianhuashan Eco-tourism Resort (International Meeting Hall).

3. Theme of the Forum: “Perspective and Innovation”.

4. Contents:

“Development and Direction of International Ceramic Art”,

“The Past and the Future of Ceramic Creation”,

“Features and Function of Modern & Contemporary Ceramic Art”,

“Creative Discussion on Ceramic Works”,

“The Embodiment of Time and Space in Ceramic Works”.

Artists, who plan to give a speech on the Forum, should pre-send their presentations (No more than 20 minutes) in English or Chinese.

5. Director General of Management Committee of Lianhuashan Eco-tourism Resort will deliver the keynote speech.

6. Interested artists could submit their presentations to laddercherry321@163.com before June 30, 2019.

 

ⅩⅤ.  Related Exhibitions

The winning entries will be exhibited at the Northeast Asia Expo Jilin China since September 6, 2019. After the exhibition, they will be exhibited as the permanent collection of Lianhuashan Changchun International Ceramic Gallery.

Introduction

Ceramics is a traditional and cultural treasure of China. For thousands of years, it has made a great contribution to the rise and prosperity of Chinese nation with silk and tea, as well as the spreading of oriental ideology and culture. 

Modern ceramic art is a kind of visual art. Artists use ceramics as a carrier to reflect the relationships between individuals, between human and society, also between man and nature in modern society. It is an art form in which artists express their own emotions. 

Changchun Ceramic Art Exhibition is a stage in the international ceramic art field. There is a collision between traditional ceramic artisanship and modern ceramic art, an exchange of ideas between the eastern and western culture, and integration of the creative skills of various nations and Chinese materials. On this stage, artists are no longer bounded by the differences of country, region, and nationality. Instead, they have all created ceramic works with the symbol of Changchun, China. 

The Invitational Exhibition of China Changchun International Ceramic art works with the theme of “Classic, Uniqueness and Integration ” has been successfully held for seven years, 172 artists from 44 countries and regions in five continents have participated in the exhibition, and created more than 630 ceramic works of ingenious creativity, outstanding uniqueness, highly different styles and exquisite craftsmanship. 

Exhibit here are some of the works created in the previous ceramic exhibitions in Changchun, and they are displayed in areas of “works of present time” “Foreign works ” “Chinese works” and “Special Exhibition works” on the first and second floor of this building.

 Changchun International Ceramic Art Museum also provides some activities such as ceramic training, ceramic experience, and purple clay making. Teachers and adolescents can receive systematic training here, while ceramic art enthusiasts can experience the fun of ceramics making and create their own works.
