The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University is a Grade-A tertiary general hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. It has 3,600 open beds and six national key clinical specialties. The Department of Ophthalmology, its dominant specialty, ranked third in the 2024 Northeast China Specialty Reputation Ranking (Fudan version). Its 25G minimally invasive vitrectomy is at a national advanced level, making it a major ophthalmology center in Northeast China.

Its Department of Cardiology is a national key clinical specialty, serving as the interventional heart disease treatment center of Jilin Province and a training base for coronary interventions designated by the former Ministry of Health. It leads the province in complex high-risk coronary interventions and radio frequency ablation for arrhythmia, and ranked fourth in Cardiac Surgery and fifth in Nephrology in the 2024 Northeast China Specialty Reputation Ranking. In addition, its Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology, and other departments have developed significant diagnosis and treatment strengths.
